I used to believe that all commercials were shown live and that each time a commercial with a school aged kid came on, that the child was signed out of school in order to perform the commercial. With that belief, I wanted to be on TV so bad!

We used to listen to the soundtrack to _Fiddler On the Roof_ constantly when I was little. When the second daughter is leaving home, she says, "Papa! God alone knows when we shall see each other again." I heard this as "Got a long nose when we shall see each other again." I figured she meant "we'll be very old," since the oldest person I knew, my grandmother, had indeed got a very long nose.

My dad was a big fan of the original "Star Trek" when I was a kid. The opening, as you probably know, states the five-year mission of the Enterprise: "to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To *boldly go* where no man has gone before." Well, I thought their five-year mission was to reach this planet called Boldlygo, and that the show was simply chronicling their adventures along the way.
