When my favorite TV station would sign on in the morning, they would have a "good morning" announcement and then show the test pattern with some music for 15 minutes before the first show came on. The last thing the announcer said before fading to the test pattern was something about "the best in entertainment". So I thought the test pattern was "entertainment".

When I was 7 or 8 I couldn't always fall asleep when I was supposed to, and I would be terrified when the TV station went off the air and I was the only one still awake, because I thought the announcer (who had this big booming mean-sounding voice) was talking to me and could see if I was sleeping or not. Usually I would pull the covers up over my head so I couldn't see the TV, but unfortunately I could still hear it. After the "good night" announcement, they would play the national anthem (with a film of jet fighters flying through the air, etc.). Then after the anthem was over, they would fade back to the TV station logo for a few seconds (presumably to check one last time if I was sleeping like a good little boy) before cutting to static for the rest of the night.

When i was little, I used to believe that the people at TV, was actually inside the TV. Since I'm from Norway, we only had one channel, but mum's English friend had several. When we came for a visit, I saw a childrens TV-show on a channel. Then they switched channel, but the same show was on. I then asked how the people could run so fast from one channel to another. They still laugh of it.
I watch Scooby Doo on TV. When I was about 6 I thought Fred's(Fred Jones) name was Bread. Dont ask why cuz I have no idea why!
I saw a durex advert years ago and it had loads of people dressed up as sperm in a durex, they were all wearing glasses and saying how spacious it was and saying "oh, and look at the view". I honestly thought that it was a contact lense advert. I thought that they were dressed up as lots of little eyeballs. Mentioned it in front of a whole bunch of people, who, knowing me laughed at me and explained. oh the humility, i was 14 for gods sake!

When I was a little girl (4 or 5), I thought that the music on the radio was performed live! When I fell in love with Donny Osmond, it took hours for my mother to convince me that he wasnt at our local radio station!
I believed that chitty chitty bang bang ended at the point where they all first get in the car and it flies, this is like 15 mins into the film but my mum had taped it but cut the rest off so i was very distressed to see the film carry on after this point and you can imagine my distress at seeing the childcatcher for the 1st time!
