I used to believe…

At the movie theater, they had 'Show Tunes' so music was playing in the theaters while you waited for the commercials/previews to start, I used to think there were people behind the screen playing the music.

When I was about 3, I watched this movie where a woman got bewitched and became very old. Then she turned back to normal, her face got younger and younger looking, and I thought they had used different aged women to go in and out of the room to shoot that scene. I was so proud to have figured it all out!

When I was little, I believed the snuggle bear and pillsbury dough boy were real.

I used to belive that the people who was on tv could see me just like I could see them... I never walked past the tv without being dressed, and before my favourite show (starring a boy I had a crush on) I put on a pretty dress and borrowed mum`s lipstick....

I used to belive that the people on the news were sitting in the TV and that if I unscrewed the back, I would be able to be seen on TV.

I used to believe…

When I was young, I was really gullable (I still am!!!), and I was also a fan of the japanese cartoon Pokemon. There was a big tree in our schoolyard, and I believed that if I pulled on all of the branches at once a gate to the world of Pokemon would open. It never worked, because (or so I thought) not enough people would help me pull the branches. I only managed three at the same time. :(

I was (and still am) a big fan of Mary Poppins it was truly magical and eveything seemed to be real. I honestly thought that you could fit anything in a carpet bag,fly up chimneys and float when you laugh but out of all of them i thought you could jump into chalk pictures. As i was out with my mum when i was little, we walked past an artist drawing chalk pictures and i stood by one. I did the little rhyme by Bert in the film and jumped onto the picture. I opened my eyes only to find an angry artist staring at me. Before he could do anything my mum apologised and quickly dragged me away. I was so disappointed that it didn't work.

I always wanted to be a disk jockey. I was going to be TJ the DJ. This all went fine until I learned that the DJ used records, then I lost interest. Up until that point I thought it was the actual bands playing because when I listened to the radio the DJ would all ways say, "Up next is....". I assumed they were all at the radio station waiting their turn to play.

i used to believe that there was a little person sitting inside the box called 'radio' and reading the news.

I was convinced that He-Man would hold his sword aloft and shout 'I ... AM ... A FLOWER!'

It had to be explained to me that he was saying 'I have the power!' No I don't have a hearing problem.

I knew that people on television or in the movies weren't real, but it seemed entirely reasonable to me that they could interact with each other. When the man who played Mr. Hooper on Sesame Street died back in the early '80s, I was convinced that Darth Vader had killed him. I knew this to be true because his breathing sounded like "Hoooo-per... Hoooo-per..."

I used to believe that black backgrounds on talk shows were endless voids and I used to wonder how peopel weren't scared by them and how they didn't fall into them.

I used to believe…

My Nephew Stephen used to always ask if he could watch on VHS the Movie Prince Of Pizza. This was actually The Prince Of Egypt and when He got older he would get annoyed at us when we kept asking him to repeat it, because he thought we were making fun of him.

I used to believe that people inside the television could see me from the set in my sitting room. One day, someone smiled as they looked at the screen and I thought they were smiling at me.
