I used to believe…
The first time I saw the movie "San Francisco" from 1936 with Clark Gable and Spener Tracy I was in early grade school. I believed for a long time that Gable started the 1906 earthquake because it begins right after his character tosses his loving cup filled with gold coins to the stage.
I used to believe up until the age of ten that when you wached a movie, it was live-acted. A little signal would be sent to some studio somewhere, where all the actors were, and they would start acting the movie you were watching. If you paused it they all had to stand still and wait till you hit Play again. I always wondered how if two people were watching different movies with the same actor in it, how the actor could act two movies at once and appear to only be doing one at a time. I also wondered why they never messed up a line or forgot to do something.
I used to believe that bands actually played their songs at the radio station into a microphone so we could hear them play. I thought the commercial breaks were so the bands would have time to switch out for the next band to come in and play the next song.
I remember my parents not letting me watch "Laverne & Shirley" when I was in grade school - I thought it was some perv-sex-adult show. Little did I know they were trying to get me to sleep at 8:30pm.
I use to believe that when I turned off the tv programming would be halted. I thought that changing channels on the tv would make the vcr record different programs and also believed that the 'reflection' on the tv was a magical tape that recorded what I do before I did it instead of a camera.
I used to believe…
When I was young, I used to watch Star Trek all the time, and until I was twelve, I thought that when I grew up there really would be transporters and space ships and the world would be just like it was in the show. When I realized that I was not going to go to space and visit other worlds, I was very dissapointed!!!
I used to believe that there were little people in the T.V. My mum was watching a horror movie when I walked in. There was a person with a gun aimed at the screen, yelling something. I got so freaked out, I thought she was about to be shot! I called the police, and when they came, they thought it was so funny! Now, I know better. :)
I used to believe…
Until I was about 6 years old I believed that the laughter and applause heard during sitcoms was coming from other people watching the show at home. I would shout into the TV speaker to see if anyone would answer me. Sadly, no one ever did. ;o)
I used to believe…
When I was about 7 years old I used to believe that when I was watching on TV, the scene when Kong was climbing up the Empire State building in the 1933 movie "King Kong", that if I was in New York City I would actually see the giant ape climbing up the building.
I used to believe that every time a song was played on the radio, the band was actually at the radio station playing it. I wondered how they did it, setting up so quickly between songs and sometimes going back to the same radio station 2 or 3 times a day!
I used to believe…
When I was a child, I used to think that any time I heard a song, whether it was a record or on the radio, the artist was singing it live at that very moment wherever he/she was.
I used to believe that whatever television show I decided to watch the rest of the world had to watch on their televisions also. If I changed the channel, the channel also changed on all of the other televisions in the world.
I saw The Wizard of Oz on TV while very young and thought the Cowardly Lion was always talking about his "cabbage". The lack of logic didn't bother me, since I couldn't follow the plot anyway and was just watching for more flying monkeys and dancing midgets
I used to believe…
you know when you were little you would watch all these kiddy shows?
well,I watched one while I was eating waffles and the...talking animal said "I smell waffles" by coincidence!
I screamed and ran around the house for bout 2 minutes...and called the police saying there's someone with a camera outside the window watching me.

I used to think "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" was actually a prince and one day he had to go to court for some parking tickets(or whatever) and I remember thinking "he can't get in trouble, he's the Prince!"

I remember crying every time the show, Lassie went off because I thought the credits hurt her (Lassie), and the whistling music made it even worse.
I was in prep. We had an old radio in our house which stopped working. When my dad opened it to change the batteries or something, we found a dead cockroach inside it and he made a joke that the "thing" inside the radio had just died which is why it stopped working. At that time I took that joke far too seriously and everytime we listened to a radio i used to think of how that "thing" inside it was doing it.
