I used to believe that you could jump into the TV show and interact in the cartoon world, like in Channel Chasers.
I used to believe that you could become a real Pokemon trainer on your 10th birthday. Being the Pokemon lover I was, I got really excited for my 10th birthday to get my own starter pokemon and pokedex! When i actually turned 10, I got disappointed because I didn't become a real pokemon trainer but I did get a toy pokedex and pokemon figures. It wasn't the same, though.
I used to believe that the african words in the lion king movie were just made up and never existed in real life, especially the hakuna matata song, which according to timon and pumba, means "no worries", but i just thought it was nonsense words in their made-up language, until i searched it on the internet and my mind was blown!

I didn't know about texting stuff or anything back then, so i pronounced it "Roo there".
I used to like "Gilligan's Island" as a kid, and one time they revealed the Skipper's real name ( Jonas Grumby) I think in a radio announcement. I misunderstood and thought they said the Skipper was "KNOWN as Grumby" which I believed for years.Also I thought Gilligan's name was "Gilligan Mulligan" like the stew.I don't know where that came from.

There's a scene in the movie "Herbie: Fully Loaded" where, for a single second, you can see Lindsay Lohan's bare shoulders and upper back as she changes clothes. I thought this qualified as nudity and was shocked that the film was rated G. It was long time before I realized it was possible for movies to have ACTUAL nudity.
Other examples include a moment in "Kangaroo Jack" where the camera lingers on the female lead's (completely covered) breasts - I just didn't realize it was possible for movie content to get more graphic than that and was bewildered that the movie got away with the PG rating.

When I was little I never understood how people could 'get lost' bushwalking or in the Outback. My mother always seemed to know what I was doing, so I thought we lived in some kind of Big Brother state where the authorities were watching everyone, even in remote locations. Whenever the news announced a bushwalker missing, I just wondered why they didn't check all of their footage.

When I was three or four years old I was terrified of the film 'The Never Ending Story' because I literally thought it would never end. I had a strict parent who expected me to sit still and watch the entirely of films - no 'getting distracted' and going off to do another activity. I thought I'd get old and grey forced to watch this film that would never end, and that the actors were constantly filming new material. I never got around to watching it until I was in my mid-twenties.
