When i was a toddler, I used to spend hours in front of the television watching Barney, Sesame Street, and Mr. Rogers. Then my mother would always tell me that my shows were fixing to go off and her shows (soap operas) were fixing to come on. Then she would change the channel to her soaps.
So naturally I just thought that there was only one channel on the television that played my shows for half of the day, and my mom's shows for the rest of the day.
Really it was just my mother not wanting to miss the next episode of her soap operas.

I had a very vivid and strong imagination as a kid. In my kitchen there used to be a big table with a very long table cloth over it. So me and my brother used to go under it and lean against the wall and watch tv from the tablecloth. I have no idea how I somehow created tv from the tablecloth but we would talk about we were watching too... wierd hell yeh
I am 45. When I was a child I used to believe that a TV show did not start until the TV was turned on, rather than at an exact time. I would get so upset on Saturday nights if I came in and my sister had already turned on "Red Skeleton." I would cry because I thought that she had "let it out" before I got there!
I used to think that everyone understood what trolley from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood was saying (dinging). I would get very upset and frustrated thinking I was the only one who did not understand. I would yell at the TV saying "What are you saying?"
I used to believe that the people on TV were actually inside the TV playing out what I was watching.
One saturday morning, knowing that dad had stayed up late the night before watching, I decided I not to watch cartoons so that the people on TV could sleep in.

A long time ago, newsreaders would be looking at the teleprompter, but every so often, they'd pretend to glance down
and read from a piece of paper. When they did that, it would look to me as if they had closed their eyes. I used to wonder why they were talking little naps during the news!
I used to believe…
When I was a kid in the 60's, we'd watch the Ed Sullivan Show. I remember being really confused because in the beginning, they'd say "Life from New York...The Ed Sullivan Show." Then at the end they'd say, "This show has been pre-recorded." When I pointed it out to my dad, he roared with laughter.
