I believed that Miss Sally on Romper Room really had a magic mirror and could see the children watching her show. I never really forgave her for saying my brother's name and NEVER saying mine.

My dad works in radio, I didn't have a problem listening to him on air when he was at work. But the first time I heard him "on the radio" when he was at the house I got freaked out and thought that dad was a ventriloquist.

When i was a child i firmly believed that when i was on Ready Steady Cook (it was compulsory, everyone had to do it) if i didnt think of a good enough name for my meal or quickly enough Ainsley Harriot would pull out a bazooka and blow me up. I don't know why, he just looked like a mean guy. It used to scare the hell out of me, and i'd practice at night, thinking up weird and wonderful names.

When I was young, I believed that the special effects in movies were real. I couldn't understand why movies had such cool things like robotics, etc. But for some reason we weren't allowed to have things like that in everyday life. (Arm got cut off? No problem! We can rebuild it. We have the technology!) :)

Back in the day, when you watched the Price is Right at the end of the show the winners, losers, models, etc would stand around and wave at the cameras. I used to believe that they were waving at me, because my grandfather told me they were. One day I was happily waving everybody goodbye and my grandmother said sharply, "they can't see you". I was so disappointed.

I used to believe that movies were all true (occuring) stories. For years I went around calling Sylvester Stalone Rocky.
I used to believe that there was an actual band living in my radio when I was younger. Whenever you changed the station, then they would start playing another song. It explained why the same song played on two different stations.
I used to believe…
When I was very little, I truly believed that all of the bands that I heard on the radio were actually at the radio station. They would each wait their turn to play on the air for 3 or 4 minutes every hour or so. I often wondered if they had homes or if they all just lived at the radio station. I also figured that it must be pretty crowded there, you know, with all the muscians and instruments lying about...
I used to believe that bands and singers were actually in the radio station playing live over the radio. All day long, bands and singers rotated out of the station playing their songs.
I used to think that Mr Snuffalupagus really was invisible, and that like Big Bird, I was special and that we were the only ones who could see Snuffy. Of course, now EVERYONE on Sesame Street can see him. I was disappointed when my daughters started watching & I saw that Big Bird's secret was out. It just seemed so much a part of the show AND Big Bird & Snuffy that it sort of spoiled it for me.
I used to believe that in order to get the raitings of how many people watched their show, spys would go to every house, every hour and peek into the windows to see what people watched. When ever the clock said that it was 5:59 etc. I would look out the window trying to catch the spys. My sister asked me what I was doing, and I was conviced that the spys weren't there because she talked too loud, and they heard her.

when i was 6, i watched pinnoccio. i was fascinated with the idea of jimminy cricket as his conscience. i though that every time i was bad, a cricket would come up to me and tell me i had been naughty. i was terrified at this idea, so any time i did something wrong, i would hide out in the house, for fear that the crickets would come and get me.
