I remember having a very vivid vision of little pop stars in the cassette player or radio when I was younger and this went on for a long time. I eventually figured out that when the Wombles had a music video out it featured them dancing around on their own record as it was being played. So at least I didn't make it up completely.

I used to believe that the actors would act out entire movies everytime I pressed play on the video, and stop when I pressed pause.
The guys in Star Wars would have got really fed up of saying the same lines over and over and over again!!

The truck we had when I was little had an old radio with knobs for the volume and tuning. I thought the volume knob was remotely connected to the people's noses and turning the knob twisted their noses, therefor making them yell louder.

I used to turn off the TV to go take my nap, and I'd think that afterwards I could come back to watch the rest of my program where it had left off.
I once slept over at my freind Krystals house, and my sleeping bag was right infrotn of a GIANT aaron carter poster, He freaks me out okay/ SO I didin't sleep all night because he was staring at me and I tohught if I fell asleep he would jump out of the poster and kill me!

until i was about 8 i used to think that everything happening on TV was in real life. for example, every time an ad came on, the actors had to be in the studio and act it out. i used to be amazed at how acurately they did it every time. But I also felt sorry for them because they always had to be ready in case it was suddenly their turn.

my older brother managed to convince me that Jackie Chan would die if the back of his head got touched due to a previous injury that resulted in the placing of a plastic plug in his skull (the plastic plug part is true, just the death part is false)

When I was little my mum led me to believe that there were only 2 TV stations, BBC1 & 2 as she didn't want me see the adverts and get the "I wants". It was only a matter of time before I discovered the other 2, from friends in the playground talking about cartoons and stuff that I'd never heard of - the shame!

my friend thought that the film 'the hulk' was about the jolly green giant from the sweetcorn adverts.

The Star Trek cartoon series was a cheap show. They recycled images all the time. In one episode, somebody points out the Romulan ship on the viewscreen, but they show a scene of the Klingon ship. I didn't think that this was odd though...the Klingons obviously sold weapons to the Romulans.
I used to think that "To Be Announced" was a TV show. It's all over the TV listings. It had a religious sound to it and religious programming was often repeated at night (often when "To Be Announced" was on).

DURING MY CHILDHOOD A POPULAR ADVERTISEMENT OF AMUSQUITO REPELLANT IS ON AIR WHERE THE REPELLANT LUNGES IN AIR TO CATCH THE MUSQUITO.WHEN I HAPPENED TO BUY ONE, I WONDERED, 'WHY IS IT NOT JUMPING'/
I was about 6 and was watching a particularly good episode of Knight Rider one day, when Michael Knight was invited round to a sassy lady's apartment to do some investigative work.
She then offered him a drink whilst leaning seductively over a bar and he replied, 'No thanks, I don't drink.'
And so I believed for the next few years that Michael Knight didn't drink...anything...ever. Not even water.

This is not exactly what I believe, but an example of the cruelty that older siblings inadvertantly inflict on their younger brethren.
My mum was studying psychology A'level when I was about 15. I had a younger brother - aged 3. He was really naughty and I was sick and tired of him getting to watch all the cartoons when I wanted to watch other stuff.
I read my mum's psychology textbook and came accross the idea of conditioning. I reasoned that my brother didnt know any different and so I could just tell him that news programmes were, in fact, cartoons. If I did it often enough then he would get the message and I could watch all the TV I wanted. For two weeks I stalked the little imp and kept telling him that news was cartoons and vice versa. Naturally, he wasnt having any of it and would scream blue murder whenever I turned over from a cartoon to the news and told him that I was giving him what he wanted.
Eventually my mum found out and grounded me for a week.
I'm now a clinical psychologist and my brother is an IT consultant. Need I say more...
I used to believe that the music on radio stations was live music. I would always wonder why no one ever messed up. Also i was in the shock of my life when I would hear the same song on 2 different stations and the songs were at different parts.

When I was in primary school a blind man came in to give talk to us and I somehow got the idea that he'd gone blind through falling asleep in front of the TV. For years afterwards I was terrified of even closing my eyes in front the television for fear of going blind!
I think Basil Brush once said that he lived in the white dot you get when you turn the TV off. well, I had no reason to doubt him so whenever anyone wanted to turn the TV off they had to wait for me to stand by the TV to get a glimpse of him: of course I would insist I did
