Up until I was 7 or so, I didn't know how cartoons worked, so I figured cartoon characters were really actors in suits.

I remember a kind of discussion in third class about "Did dinosaurs and cavemen live at the same time?"
One of the pupils said they did, and "The Flitstones" were the proof.
I was believe that cartoons were real.

when i was a kid(around 5), the films shown on tv would normally announce the sponsors of the show before playing it and i thought if i watched the entire show, the sponsors would send me a bag of their goodies which normally would be abalone or some expensive yummy food. so no matter how tired i got, i stayed awake throughout the whole show and for the rest of the week, anticipated for the arrival of my 'gifts'. alas..none ever arrived..

Up until a few months ago, I thought a "sneak-preview" for a film was a really long movie trailer that you watched on TV at a certain time. Then when I heard on the radio, "Win tickets to a sneak preview of..." I thought it was a really long trailer that you went to the theatre to see. I found out what it really was when my friend was all excited because she won tickets to a sneak preview and I was all, "Why are you so excited about a movie trailer?" Then she told me.

On a message board one time, a guy was trying to convince everyone that the FBI could see you through your computer monitor, which is why he covered it every time the computer wasn't being used.
He then went on to a long technical explanation of how and why the FBI would do such a thing.
I would think it was some kid posting the message, but this was on a high security locksmith forum my father posts on.
Imagine. How retarded can you get? The guy had to be at least 45 years old, as well.

I used to believe that special effects in films were done by people wearing camera-proof clothing who moved stuff around on the screen.

When I was little my mum used to have the radio on while she was doing stuff around the kitchen and I used to dance away to it while she worked. I understood what pop bands were because I had seen them on Top of the Pops, but I used to think that the bands used to go down to the radio station each time their song was played and do it live in the studio. I thought that it was VERY nice of them to take time out of their busy schedules to do this and thought they had to wait in a queue for their turn to play and get their song on the radio.

When I was younger I thought MTV was an x-rated station because I thought M stood for Mature.

As ludicrous as this may sound this is, I swear, the truth! My gran used to put a cover over the TV at night, when I asked her why she replied because I don't want them (the people in the TV) watching in at night! I nearly believed it as well, old people aren't they great shes as mad as a fish and as thick as a bat.
I used to think that the starwars weekly comic wasn't very strong.. duh.
I used to believe that in the "olden days" when films were first made in black and white that every body moved around very very quickly and had lots more energy back then....... actually I still believe that!
I used to think that little gnomes lived in the TV and they acted out all the shows and stuff. It was really dumb. LOL. I imagined them to look kinda like Smurfs.

When I was about 3, I was hooked on Barney. Whenever the kids would sing a song, music would play in the backround. I thought that the music was actually coming out of them, and only special people could make music play from their throats when they sang! I would get really frustrated that I couldn't! I believed his until I was about 5, and started school.
I thought cartoon characters were actors in costumes. I was jealous of the actor playing Speedy Gonzales, because I figured it was a child like mne in the costume.
