Before the introduction of colour TV in the UK, the invention was previewed on a topical BBC science show, Tomorrows World. At the end of the show to give the impression of what colour TV might look like (remember Im viewing on a black & white TV set) they displayed the closing titles using a noise pattern to give the optical illusion of colour. For years until my parents got a real colour TV I expected to be able to see full colour TV pictures on the old black & white TV.

When I Was 5, I Used To Believe That Whatever You Wrote On The Outside Of A VHS Cassette Tape, Is What You Would See. So I Wrote, "Grown People Movie" On The Side And Inserted It Into The VCR.I Still Saw Little Red Riding Hood, So I Figured It Didn't Work, Because I Probably Spelled "People" Wrong.

When I was little I used to think that the programmes I watched on telly were just seen by me and my family. I was realy surprised when I heard someone at school ask if anyone had seen the same thing I'd watched the night before

Watching I Love Lucy when I was 3 or so I can remember when Lucy was about to get caught for her antics by her husband, I would run around in circles in the Livingroom terrified that Ricky would be really mad. I still feel that anxiety!

There used to be a segment on Sesame Street where they built a picture of a tunnel and then it became real and a train started coming towards the screen. Well, I used to think that it was going to come through the tv set and I used to run away crying.

When I was really little I watched a lot of cartoons, and saw that they all had outlines. I would spend hours moving my hand around and looking for my own outline. I have friends that did the same.

Probably because it was on so late at night, and because it showed people in their underwear, I thought Benny Hill was the most hardcore pornography in existence.

For some reason I thought that the characters on television could see you the same as you could see them, that they were staring out at you. I watched Barney religiously. I had a MAJOR crush on Michael-the cute curly blonde-anyone remember him? For some reason I thought that the characters on television could see you the same as you could see them, that they were staring out at you. So I used to put on a little dress and fix my hair whenI watched television. And whenever there was a close-up of Michael, I would sort of shyly smile and giggle at him, and maybe wave. It was ridiculous.

When I was about four I was in day-care, and we always watched movies there. One of my favourite movies was Home Alone which the day care occasionally put on. One day I really wanted to watch the movie, except I didn't know the name. So I started yelling, ''I want to watch Kevin! I want to watch the Kevin movie!'' (Kevin is the main character in Home Alone). It took a few minutes for the day-care staff to figure me out.

When I was little, there were these ads for Cheese Strings. I absolutely hated Cheese Strings, but one day I saw an ad and I didn't really listen. They were advertising a contest to win a Gameboy Colour, and they showed a sort of Gameboy like design on the bag. I thought that there was a Gameboy in every bag of Cheese Strings! I made my dad go and buy me some, and boy was I disappointed. Then I had a weeks supply of Cheese Strings. Ew.
I used to believe that singers, on radio stations, were live on-air and thought that they ran from one station to another. What I couldn't quite figure out was that if I heard a singer on one station and then the same singer a few seconds later on another, how they managed to run so quickly.
I used to believe that there was a bunch of little people that lived in the radio. I would always be afraid to turn it up too loud because i didn't want them to have to scream and get sore throats. If we were going on long trips I would insist that my parents turn off the radio every so often to give the people inside a break. I was about four or five when my mom finally figured out why i didn't like the music too loud.

When i was a child i would often watch television and believed if i were to break the screen i would be able o join in my favourite tv show! (which was casualty at the time)!!
I used to believe that the "million dollar movie" that used to run on NYC TV stations at 4pm was actually 2nd run features of movies that had already been shown to a select group of affluent people that literally paid one million dollars to view the movie.
It seemed odd to me that people would spend so much to see a movie before me, but then again, some of them were pretty good. (I think I held this belief because my older brother told me this was true -- nasty!)
