I used to believe…
When I was little, I would watch the Smurfs. I got my mum to watch with me once, and afterwards she said in shock, "They're Communists!"I didn't know what she meant, but since the word sounded fancy I remembered it. And when we started doing Communism and World War Two in History class years later, my teacher began talking about how the Russians became Communists. I put my hand up and said, "But I thought the Smurfs were American!" Nobody had any idea what I meant...
I used to belevie that the people in the television could hear you, cause my grandpa would always shout at the tv when the Yankees lost a game.
I would always shout at the tv, but noone ever talked bsck.

I used to believe…
Whenever one of my friends would come over, we would watch "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" on Nickelodeon. There was one episode where I guess a ghost haunted a house, and would leave a painted mark of an uppercase green Q over the victim's bed. After we watched that episode we were wicked scared.
So then we went around my house searching to see if we could find anything with an uppercase green Q. Well, we found a book that was titled "TROPICAL AQUARIUM FISH" in green lettering. We then thought the book was possessed.
I used to believe that when a person would listen a vintage radio, the "old-timers" music would play. I thought that since the radio was old, the music from it would be, too

My boyfriend used to believe that the canned laughter on sitcoms was actually the laughter of people who were watching the program in there own homes. consequently, he'd try and make the most obnoxious noises possible, in hopes that's he'd be audible in other households !
I used to believe that the 'Thundercats' were real and one day Liono (the main character) would come a rescue me and take me home to Thundera were they live on Third earth. I say used to believe, but i am still waiting, ha ha.

i used to believe that the tiny bits of dust that show up in the light were bits of film. I was always scared in cinemas, what if someone ate an important part of the film?
I was absolutely convinced that anything I saw on the television was all live and happening at that second and were all performing for me at that moment. Repeats didn't come into the equation...

I used to believe that movies were shot in the exact order that you saw them on screen. For instance, Scene One was shot first, Scene two second, and so on. For some reason, I was VERY upset when I learned that wasn't so!

Here's a bizarre one for you:
When I was 10 my mom used to watch a lot of vintage Nick at Nite shows, so I grew up watching the 50's "Adventures of Superman" TV series. I really had a crush on the actor that played Superman. I used to imagine that he would come visit me at night and bring me presents and tell me he was going to take me away to his Fortress of Solitude and marry me. I was very devastated later when I found that George Reeves (said actor) had committed suicide.

Up until I was eight, I believed in my own theory (I called it the Radio Head Theory). The Radio Heads were little people who lived inside of your radio and TV. They played all the characters and sang all the songs from inside of the Audio Studio (the speakers). My theory was that our radio was like another Earth to the Radio Heads; every station was a different country or city.
I saw one jump out of my radio and now I am scarred for life.
I was SO proud of myself when I was actually able to use the TV remote! All I did for hours at a time was change the channels (it was actually really fun then) and watch the commercials.
One day, I saw the end of the Rescue Heroes comercial. I thought that instead of,
'Rescue Heroes! They always save the day!' that it said,.
'Superman can always save the day!'
My first thoughts were Well DUH! but then I actually started believing in Superman. I would jump of the three foot ledge at the edge of our property repetitively, thinking that Superman would save me.
He always did, of course. I just couldn't see him.
