Back when the COCOON movies were popular I for a long time thought there was an actress in them named Donna Meechee (I wasn't sure how to spell her last name). I puzzled over what character she played. Quite sometime later I finally found out that I was hearing the name of actor Don Ameche instead.

When I was 4, I would watch Barney every morning before preschool. One day, there was some error, and I got the "Please Stand By" screen. So, I stood by the TV for about 15 minutes before my mom told me I wasn't really supposed to stand by the TV.

Terry Nutkins was a TV presenter in Britain, famous for programmes like 'Animal Magic' and 'The Really Wild Show'. He was balding on top of his head but had quite long hair at the back. When I was about 11 or 12, a friend told me that Terry Nutkins couldn't ever have his hair cut because he had nerve endings in his hair and it would hurt too much. I believed it unquestioningly until, while a university student, I started to tell someone else about Terry Nutkins' hair and realised that it probably wasn't true.

As a very young child I got the idea that someone named Edward was a big honcho in the world of television. In fact, I thought he had most all of TV programming named for him. That was because I heard the announcement on TV frequently that I thought was saying "This is the CBS Television Edward". Of course, I eventually learned that they were saying "network", not "Edward".
i used to think that when you turned off the television is paused like a tape. so everyday i would come home from school at 3 and watch ghostbusters. my mom would make me a sammitch or something and i would come back and be very discontented at the fact that someone had turned the tv back on.

Here in England we have a Toys R Us advert that contains the lyrics: " 'There's millions,' says Geoffrey, 'All under one roof.'"
I actually thought they were singing, "There's millions of debris all under one roof," and was lead to belief all the toys at Toys R Us were cheap because they were made of debris.

I use to believe that the voices coming out of a clock radio were actual people living inside the radio. (I watched too much Electric Company)

Up until I was about 13, I used to believe that when radio stations played music, they had the actual live band in there singing. I used to ponder for hours how they got in and out and set up so fast to immediatly start the song after the last one. I had thought this becuase i was watching Selina and when she was recording her song, i thought that she was singing for a radio, so i imagined those kinds of rooms where they came in and out.
Took me a while to figure out that maybe they had TAPES or RECORDS.

I used to believe the people in pictures could see out at you. I still feel creeped out when I'm in my room and I have a poster with a person that's looking out. I don't feel scared if their eyes are looking off to the right or left or something, but I my sister has a Lord of the Rings picture with four of the actos looking straight out, and I got so creeped out a few nights ago I turned it opposite because I was just about to change.
I used to believe that there were little people in the radio singing. And one day i asked my dad "how did u get a licence to own the little people inthe radio daddy?" and he told me the real thing

My girlfriend believed that the television canned laughter came from other people watching in their homes. Whenever the laughter started she would run up to the tv and laugh into the speakers as loud as she could. Hoping everyone would hear her

When I was little, I thought that the people on TV actually lived in the TV. I thought if you smashed the TV screen, there would be people in there.
I used to believe that when the radio was on it was really just poeple on the roof of our car singing into the wires that connected into our radio and I never saw them because whenever we stopped they threw a rope onto a nearby cloud and floated away
I used to believe…
when i was small my mom had this little box radio and whenever the radio came on that the people who were singing had special powers and transmitted from one radio to the next. i actually tried to open it a few times.

I used to believe…
When I asked my dad how the tv guide stays up-to-date on current tv shows, he told me that they change it every week. For the longest time after that, I believed a man sneaked into our house every week at night to re-write the tv guide. He had super sensitive hearing, so you couldn't sneak up on him while he was writing it, because he'd hear you and run away. Instead, I hid the tv guide in my room and pretended to be asleep, hoping to catch him coming in to re-write the guide.

When I was 6 years old I was watching my favorite cartoon show, when we all had to leave to go out to dinner.
I imagined that by turning off the T.V.
I could stop the show from continuing and when I returned, I could turn the T.V. back on and pick up the show right where it left off.
Kinda of like the home movies my dad would make us watch.
I remember being very angry when I discovered that my cartoon was over and I wanted to know who turned on the T.V.
and watched it all up while we had been gone.
