i used to believe that every time i listened to the radio, the bands were actually playing at the station at that moment. At some point, i came up with the hypothesis that bands were lined up ahead of time and so they would shuffle one band into the station right after another was finished.

this isnt mine, but when my brother was like, 5 and i was 15, i was really into the rocky horror picture show. I used to watch it all the time, and he would watch it with me. one day, his teacher asked what he wanted to be when he grew up. he wanted to be a sweet transvestite.

I used to get mad at the Bananas In Pajamas because they were so dumb when they did stuff. I wanted to go into the TV and tell them how to do things!

When I was about 3, I LOVED Mr. Rogers. I used to watch him all the time. One year, he was participating in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade that I was watching with my mom.

There he was...I was so excited and began waving to him from our living room. When he went by on his float, he was waving to the camera and in that moment, I truly believed that he was waving back at me.

There used to be an advert for St. Ivel Gold (a kind of buttery spread). And it used to end with a shot of the top of the tub. Then a knife came across and in one simple move from right to left, the spread became shaped into the name of the product. I used to spend ages trying to do it and could never figure out why it only flattened the spread further.

I used to believe…

My parents had a full-sized van (complete with red shag carpeting!:) we always used for road trips. Whenever the radio was on I would lay in the back watching the speakers convinced I could see the bands playing each song...turns out it was just my reflection.

I used to believe…

When I was little, I was a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh-the one where people dressed up as the characters and that British guy narrated. Anways, I never caught on to the fact that Kanga and Roo made Kangaroo until my sophmore year in high school.

I used to believe…

When I was younger, when watching TV, I used to think that the laughing that happens after a joke was the laughter of the other people watching the show from their own living rooms. I used to try to talk to my cousins or friends if I knew they'd be watching the same show.

i thought that all television sitcoms were real with real people and their real lives. i thought everyone had their own tv show and when your tv was turned off was when your show was on for everyone else to see. so whenever my tv was off and i was in just my underwear i'd freak out and run to my room and put my pants on.

I used to believe…

When the movie "Beauty and the Beast" came out my little sister (who was about 3 or 4 at the time) thought the title was "Beauty and the Beach". If you tried to correct her she would scream at the top of her lungs and would not be convinced that the movie was not about a beach.

I used to believe that cartoons were actual real life people, places, and things, except, covered in tin foil and painted to render them flat.

I used to believe…

when i was sevenyears old, i watched the miniseries "V" in which alien lizards impersonated humans. i was convinced that when i went to bed, my parents stripped off their skin and relaxed as the evil lizards they truly were. i used to sit on the stairs when they thought to spy on them, trying to catch them without their human disguises on.

I used to think the "Save Big Money At Menards" went like "J.C. Penny's At Menards"

I used to believe…

When I was a kid I liked the show TJ Hooker with Heather locklear, etc. Well I thought that every police officer was a "hooker". Once I was walking with my father past some cops and I yelled "look at all the hookers!" I never understood why I got an odd combination of laughs and red faces by everyone around me.

I used to believe…

when i was about 4-5, i used to watch sesame street everyday..sometimes even twice. well after the show was over i was talking to my mom telling her that our family should take a vacation to sesame street. i was too little to get the concept of tv, and make believe. i was so sad to find out that it wasnt a real place.
