When I was little, my family had a very large, nonfunctioning old radio down in the basement. I was convinced that if we ever got it working again, it would broadcast all the music and shows from the 1930s because that was the era in which it was made and probably last worked. I held the "radio as time capsule" belief for years until I discovered that my mom's transistor radio made in the 60's easily tuned in all the greatest hits of 1983.

When i was little I asked my mum how people got onto the TV screen and my mum told me the screen was made up of lots of little dots. So I thought that the people on tv weren't real people, that they were just a lot of random dots that the tv had made.

When I was a kid, my mom watched alot of star trek, so naturally, I started watching it with her. Around then, I thought that starfleet academy was a real place and I wanted to grow up to be a starfleet officer

when i was little i used to think that everyone watched me on this big tv screen at the white house, so i was really afraid to undress or take showers or go to the bathroom. and what not. it took me years to get over this fear of being watched.
i used to believe that there were little midgets in the TV acting out the TV shows, and they had a little ladder to get in and out.

When I was little I thought Oprah Winfreys name was really "Okra" Winfrey, so one night for dinner I told my mom I wanted fried Okra for dinner, not the lady on T.V. but the kind you eat.

I used to believe the T.V show "War of the Worlds" was for real, that those aliens were REALLY coming for us.
I used to believe that all TV shows were drawn, like cartoons, and that the ones with real actors were actually drawn with very good crayons.. It never occurred to me that they were real people o_O
I used to think it was the greatest coincidence in the world when they would have the Jetsons episode where they traveled back in time and met the Flintstones. "What are the odds of my two favorites cartoons families traveling through time to meet each other?" I thought. It was only later that I realized Hannah Babara was masterminding the whole thing behind the scenes.

Not really a belief, but the advert for galaxy chocolate, used to say "why have cotton when you can have silk?" so when i was young I used to refer to galaxy as "silk". In the middle of supermarkets i'd look to mum and say "could we get a bar of silk?"
and people would give us strange looks

In the 5th grade, so many of my classmates liked to watch “Home Improvement.” Not knowing anything about the sitcom, I thought there was this new fad of watching home repair shows.

When I was a young kid I believed that there were small people inside the tv. I made the mistake of telling this to my older brother who then told me that all the people on the tv shows were in the tv and sometimes at night they came into the house to suck the breath out of sleeping people. I didn't sleep well until he finally admitted he lied.

My parents used to listen to National Public Radio all the time, and usually the ppl speaking would use their real names rather than radio personalities. There was this one guy, Allan Doud, who did the news in the early 90s, and my brother and I thought he was actually saying, "This is Howlin' Dude, with the news report from such-and-such." I remember the day we told our parents-my mother fell on the kitchen floor laughing and my dad peed his pants while running to the bathroom.

Until I was about 5, i believed that whenever you watched a movie, the people (or animated characters...lol) would have to preform the movie! I think i was over a friends house when i realized i was wrong.. never said a word to her!
i once believed that indiana jones was a real person. i presented this theory to my brother and he informed me that he had been a real person but he had died long ago. so id often pray that god would take care of indiana jones and i would often look up to the sky and imagine him looking down and watching over me from heaven. im still kind of a movie nerd.

When i was little, i always wondered where the laughing and cheering would come from when we watched a sitcom. So i believed that it was other people like me sitting at home and we could hear them laughing through our television sets. So i used to talk into the speaker on the tv and say things so that people "on the other side" could hear me.

Ate age 3 (in order to turn off the TV and go to sleep) my dad told me that the little people inside the box were "dead tired" and that I was being a bad boy for making them perform for me for so long...took me a while to watch TV without guilt.
