I used to believe…

This one's really stupid, especially as I wasn't so much a kid as a guy in my late-teens at the time, but when satellite tv first came out, I thought the presenters were actually on board a space station/satellite and were recording the programmes from up there...

I used to believe that the place where black & white movies were recorded everything was in black & white.

I used to believe that there were tiny actors in my t.v. doing the shows. Needless to say, I was confused when I visited some of my friends and they had the same tiny actors in their t.v.s, too. I figured they cloned a whole bunch of tiny actors to get them in all my friends' televisions.
Also, I was very nice to my tiny actors. I would never watch t.v. for too long, and would always turn off the t.v. when I left the room, so that they could get some time to rest. And sometimes I tried to meet them by unscrewing the back of the t.v. My mom didn't appreciate this.

I remember having a sense of deep sympathy for the people inside the tv- I thought they had to really crouch and bend over and turn themselves really small to enter through the screen!

When I was young,I used to believe that if you watched colour TV,your eyes would drop out. Thanks Dad!You just didn't want the expense of renting a colour set!

I used to think that the people you see on TV weren't real and existed within the TV. I was really confused when my dad took me to a football game and I saw the players, then even more confused to see them on the telly too later that night when they showed the highlights.

Once me and my brother accidently walked into the X-rated section of the movie store, of course we didn't see the sign really high out of view that said "ADULTS ONLY". When I looked at the cover of these films I thought that they were exercise tapes like my mom had because the men and woman on the covers were barely wearing anything!

i thought that when a band came on the radio that they had been shrunk down in order to fit into a radio & be broadcast in homes. i remember trying to take off the face of the radio to see if i could see through it to the beatles. my little fantasy was blown when my sister was on the radio when she was asked a question at a basketball game. i was suspicious that she wouldn't let herself be shrunk so i asked her when she got home... she laughed for quite a while.

I used to believe as a child that the Jerry's Kids Muscular Dystrophy Association Annual Fund Raiser on television was literally for Jerry's kids. I couldn't figure out why Jerry Lewis kept having children if he knew they'd all be severely handicapped and have a debilitating disease.

I'm from Germany and as a kid i used to believe while watching an american series that the actors starring in that series had to learn german ...I really didn't notice that those voices weren't their real voices.

When I was younger I saw a cartoon about how bears have to store up food and water to hibernate for the winter. Since it was near winter time, I figured we had to also and I'd better get started! So I go into the bathroom and drink about 10 dixie cups of water. Then my little sister comes in and asks what I'm doing. I share my plan with her, and she joins in. After about 20 cups, my mom comes in and need I say I had a lot of explaining to do!

I used to believe that the play school people inside my TV would get tired if I pressed the fast foreward button too much.

When I was little I used to watch Captain Kangaroo and my favorite part was when they had the artist on. They had a TV trick where he would take a paint brush and run it across the paper and it would "paint" a real life scene on the paper. I remember asking my Mom to buy me a paint brush like that and I got really upset when she told me it was only a TV trick. But of course I didn't believe her, I mean why would the good ole' Captain use tricks? ;)

I was raised in a catholic family and started at a catholic school. I knew I went to a catholic school and other people went to a public school. One day I was watching a TV and the channel was called "NJN - Public TV" I turned it right away thinking that it would teach me things that were incorrect (i thought public and catholic schools taught things differently)!!!

I had a friend that used to believe that the news reporters on tv could see her as she was watching them- so she'd dress up and sit neatly infront of the tv smiling at the news reporters for hours..

I used to beleive.....

that going to the movies made it nightime. When we'd go in it was daytime and when we would comeout it would be night time. The first time we left a matinee I was truly dismayed.

I also used to beleive that when you turned the TV off, the next time you turned it on the show would start up again where it left off....

after i saw the Indiana Jones, Temple of Doom movie, i was terrified for days that the mean man in the movie was going to jump thru my window and take my heart out.

When I was 5 or 6, I used to believe that I would grow up and marry Bobby Vinton. I would faithfully watch his TV show every week. And, when my parent's would try to tell me that it just wasn't a possibility...I would get hysterical and fight tooth and nail with them. To this day, I own every recording he has every made.

I used to believe…

When I was let's say 5 I thought if the television screen broke, then everything you had seen on television like scary movies, cartoons, etc. would come out from the television into your house!
