When Tetris on the NES had just hit it big, I knew that it was invented in Russia (It was kind of hard to not know, with the castles and all that), but I had a hard time figuring out how a video game could be made in Russia. After all, they didn't even have electricty over there!
The best theory I could come up with was a game with a crane that lowered wooden blocks... but how would they take the lines away?

When I was about six or seven, I used to watch a TON of T.V.. There were always those sponsor children commercials on, and I never understood them. I used to think that if you called, you would have to switch places with a family from like, Africa or something. And they would get to come and live in your house, and your family would go out and live in poverty. I believed this for years, and when I finally asked my Mom about it, she told me what REALLY happened. I never told her what I actually thought until last week. She laughed at me.

When I was really little I thought that if I dug deep enough, I could dig to China. I also thought that the Looney Toons lived in the center of the Earth, so they would be there to meet me halfway to China!
I believed that if I was in a car accident, I couldn't be harmed because cartoon characters would fly down out of the sky and save me! After all, they weren't confined to time and space were they?
I used to think when you turned the telly off the program just stopped. Therefore you could continue watching it later on by turning it back on!

My son, who was at the time about 7 years old, was very easily frightened. A friend wanted him to watch the movie "Something Wicked This Way Comes," which is a Disney movie, but sort of scary, nonetheless. Of course, I didn't allow him to watch it. But the friend described the movie for him, but made it sound very innocuous. However, he mentioned a scene where a merry-go-round goes backwards, which was enough to send my son over the edge. Later that night, there was a knock at my door, and my son appeared, crying, saying "Mommy, I'm afraid - Something Wicked is coming this way!"

I used to believe when it said "Only In Theaters" during movie previews that the movie would never come out on video and that if I didn't see it in the theaters, I would never see it again.

I never understood the "D" in Disney, the one that's supposed to be like Walt Disney's signature. I thought it looked like a funky Q, or some wierd symbol. I only realized it was supposed to be a D about 8 months ago, me being 14.
i used to believe that whatever song was playing on the radio would also be playing on mtv. I'm not sure why i believed this because no matter how fast i ran inside to catch the end of 'rico suave,' it never seemed to work in my (or gerardo's) favor.
I always thought that when you turned the tv off it would "pause" whatever program you were watching until you turned it bac on again.

There used to be a type of medicine that was advertised on the TV, I think it was an antacid but I can't remember what it was called, for which the add slogan was "Suck them and see."
The way the voice over guy said it made it sound like "Sucamin C" which I presumed was something like Vitamin C, but perhaps a man made version, or something equally as dense.

I used to believe that the credits at the end of a movie was a list of people in that were watching it.

As a southern kid in the sixties I was walking through a J.C.Pennies with my Grandmother and I saw a color television for the first time. The colors weren't as sharp as today, it was more like one dull shade each of green or blue or red. Anyway, as we passed I asked "Grandma, what kind of TV is that? She said "a color TV" which I interpreted as a "colored" TV. Walking on behind her I kept wondering why Black Folks had different TV's than Whites.
