I used to watch the Archie Cartoon Variety Hour or something like that and it showed cartoon Archie characters on stage in front of a live audience of real children.

I begged my mom to try to get me tickets to that show. She'd just smile, and never told me it was impossible.

Two things about TV

1. While watching TV I believed that I could go up to the screen unscrew it and climb inside it and meet everyone I saw

2. I believed that the whole world was black and white until color TV was invented.

Ah, to be 5 years old again! :)

When I was little, we mainly listened to classical music on the radion. It never occurred to me that the station was playing records.

I was sure that radio stations were huge, with many different studios filled with symphony orchestras. And every time a different selection was played, that meant that a conductor had cued up a different orchestra.

When my ten year old daughter was about
two, she used to ask to watch the Dig Digs
all the time. I had no idea what she was
talking about until she recieved a Snow
White shirt for Christmas and said "look
mommy the dig digs" Later that day, we watched the movie and realized the Dwarves sing a
song about digging! Mystery solved.

When I was very little I used to have a recurring nightmare about Jimmy Saville. In my dreams he was called the tickling man and he used to chase me and try to tickle me ( i hated being tickled) dressed in red dungarees and a yellow t-shirt, laughing in a deranged manner.

understandably i used to cry hysterically and hide whenever hhe appeared on the tv.

When I was a lad, I once saw a busted radio in the snow. There were small tracks all around. I deduced that small peanut people, like Mr. Peanut, lived in the radio and made all of the voices and music. I was saddened when I learned about bird tracks, years later...

When I was very small, Dad took us to a drive-in movie where Ivanhoe was playing. It was my first knowledge of 'knights in armor'. My brother and I were so impressed, we stopped playing cowboys and Indians and began a new game. But we didn't know what to call ourselves. I asked Dad (who wasn't very impressed by the movie), "Dad, What was Ivanhoe"? Dad said, "He was a goon". We played 'goons' until I was about twelve.

Wheni was young, i thought all the tv ads were done live. Not only was I perplexed at how they did everything the same way each time, but could believe they allowed young kids who starred in the commercial up so late at night

When I was little, I had two imaginary friends, "Scoola" and "Roe Call". I never understood why this made my family laugh so hard until one day as an adult, I saw a re-run of an old Mouseketeers episode. All the Mouseketeers came out, then they said, "It's time for school and roll call!" and everyone cheered and clapped. I didn't see anyone else come out, so I figured "Schoola" and "Roe Call" must be imaginary.
