I used to belive that every time you turned on the T.V little people climbed into it and started talking to you, so when the people on the adverts said stuff like " Does your car sound like this?" then I would answer " I don't know" Well I was only 6!

My ex-husband told me that when he was younger he used to go into the cupboard in the corner of his bedroom and wait for the "shopkeeper" to come and provide him with an outfit, just like Mr Ben. Surprisingly this never happened :-)

When the drama and soaps production teams wanted to have either snow, rain or strong winds, I always thought that they had to wait for the weather to arrive. I thought that this was the case until I went on a back stage tour at Disney MGM Studios.

When my son was about 3, I used to give him Ready-Brek for breakfast. Then he suddenly started refusing to eat it, and wouldn't tell me why. Finally, after a week or so of refusing and my asking "Why?" he finally burst into tears and said, "I don't want that little man to come!" It all clicked--Ready Brek had started running a TV commercial that showed a smiling little man emerging from the steam of the bowl, and my little boy obviously thought he was real, and would appear over every bowl of Ready Brek.
I used to believe that every radio played different things. When I was about 4, we got a new radio, and I was very excited. "I wonder what we'll hear on this one," I said to my mother. I couldn't believe it when she told me that every radio played the same stuff.

The TV said "we are having technical difficulties, please stand by." This meant the people watching TV should stand next to their TV.

people on soaps didn't know they were being filmed
I also used to believe that when shows appeared in black and white that the TV was just broken. At one point in my childhood my cousin had told me that I had turned the color off on the TV by pushing the wrong button and that I'd be in serious trouble when she told my mother. What a mean trick! :P
I used to believe that the actors/actresses in black & white films would spend hours sitting in a make up chair having white powder spread all over them and black and gray accents would be added here and there to make them look black and white. i would think 'gee those prop guys must spend a lot of time painting the props/floors/walls black and white!' I never quite understood why they would spend their time doing that...but i soon came to figure that the film was black and white...go figure!

I used to believe that when you heard a song on the radio, It was the band actually playing live in the radio station studio.
I used to believe that Cookie Monster really ate cookies. When I got older, I knew he couldn't eat them but I thought he had a hole in his mouth that you couldn't see (his mouth is black) and that he crumbled up the cookies and brushed the crumbs into the hole. I was skipping class one day a couple of years ago and flipped on the TV. Their was Cookie Monster trying to eat a Converse All Star high top sneaker. I was so devastated to find out that I was wrong. He crumbled up the shoe and when he thought no one was looking, he threw it under the counter. I saw it though! I can't believe that Cookie was lying to us all those years. He doesn't eat the cookies at all! He just crumbles them up and brushes them out of his mouth! It's horrible!
I used to believe that the Oscars were a pagan ritual aired on TV to try and get new members. Therefore, I was always afraid of the actors I saw recieving awards, because I thought they had become one of them and were now trying to get me to become a pagan as well by using subliminal messages whenever I watched a movie with them in it.

At around age 3 or 4, I thought cartoon characters were real actors but just in a cartoon world that was filmed and shown to us. I imagined bugs bunny and daffy duck sitting together at lunch eating their sandwiches and discussing their latest 'work'.
I am SOO glad that I am not the only kid who believed that the TV would stop when you turned it off and resume the same show when you turned it back on. I thought that until I was at least in 4th grade.
I used to believe that a dubbing mixer in the movies mixed dubbing for the actors boots. I couldn't understand why they needed so much.
I used to believe that when listening to the radio the music was being played live by the band. If my Mum ever switched to a different station and I heard the same song I imagined that the band had piled into the back of a van and sped across town to the next studio.

When I was a nipper, I'd occasionally catch the end of Emmerdale Farm of Crossroads, and, once the titles had finished, there would be still shot of a novelisation and the announcer would say that the latest book was "available from all good book-sellers". I thought he was saying 'book-cellars', and that you could only buy these in bookshops that were underground.
