At the beginning of every movie at this one theater when I was a kid, they showed a short film featuring a local radio celebrity asking us to be quiet and let everyone enjoy the show. He also said at the end that if we can find him after the show he'd give us a shiny new dime. I eventually figured out that he really wasn't really in there, unless he was a big fan of 'The Rescuers.' But until then, I would always sneak a peek over my shoulder to see if Larry Lujack was sitting in the back row, all by himself.

When I was little, I always thought actors in TV and movies always dressed and acted the same way they did in their shows. For example, I only knew Cesar Romero as the Joker from "Batman", so I thought he went about in real life in his Joker outfit and make-up.

My sister and I once insisted that my parents buy Mrs. Butterworth's Pancake Syrup, and when they did, we sat at the table and waited for her to talk.
That was a lesson about the truth of advertising!
I used to see this advert on TV for handcream where they screwed up a dry leaf, then told you about the cream, and the leaf was green and fresh.
I honestly thought that if you put this handcream on a dead leaf, it would make it green again. How frustrating it was then that it never worked for me.....

When I was about 10 years old and saw a pretty woman on tv I thought I could take the four screws off the front of the tv and pull the woman out and hug her and noone would know it was me.
I used to think the song in those old Cal Worthington car commercials said "Pussy Cow" instead of "Go see Cal".

When I was little, I used to think there were people that lurked in the bushes to see what others were watching on TV and that that's where ratings came from.

Whenever I listened to the radio, I used to think that each band came into the radio station, one at a time, played their song, and left. As I grew a little older, that theory was changed by my thinking that ALL of the bands were in the studio, but played their one song and then left...

This was when I was very young and the BBC weather used to consist of a man walking by several maps and sticking pictures of clouds and suns to the map. Probably because adult world seemed aloof and bizarre, I used to imagine that the weather man was infact held inside a giant dome covered in weather maps, and he was doomed to spend an eternity in this empty twilight zone walking around his vast prison reading the weather.
i used to believe that small small peoples are inside tht radio ,and they are fearing to come out .on those days i used to shout at radio "if you are brave ennof come out and fight with me bleady beggers"
I used to believe little people sit inside the radio and sing the songs and stuff. When no one was around I used to check through the small holes so that I can talk to them.
I used to watch Alf and he'd always mention lesbians so one day I asked my father what a lesbian was. He told me that people from Lebanon were lesbians and I believed him for a very long time after that.

When I was little I used to believe the movie "Alice in Wonderland" was actually called "Alison Wonderland". I thought her name was Alison. I was very little then.

When I was little I used to believe that the people in commercials who were acting out and telling how they were talking to someone and mentioned about a problem and the person they were talking to told them about (name of product) were real people who really were in that situation talking to a person and thatg the person they were talking to really recommended that product. I thought it was all a real situation. I was shocked when I found out that these were paid actors who really didn't have that situation.

I could never work out how they used to change the bands over so quickly when i listened to the radio
I once asked my mother how they made newspapers. She told me that a machine made them. I took this as that there was a machine that gathered all of the news and printed out papers.
I asked my mother this because I sincerely wanted to appear in the paper to be 'famous.' I proceeded then to draw a picture, and walk around saying that it was "the best picture I had ever drawn." I figured that this would be picked up by the news machine and that me and my brilliant artwork would appear as breaking news the next day.
