I used to believe, having only one TV in the house, that televisions worldwide could only receive one signal at once, and that changing the channel would change it for all of them. This was my explanation for commercial breaks and the like.

When I was watching a dance and singing competition, the singing performed a lift with three men holding her up. I asked my mum 'How did they know they had to pick her up?' She explained to me that they practised before and didn't just make it up on the day. I never quite got my head round this.....

I am 40 now,but while still a kid,I would think there were actual people ,that is,small people in radio sets.Otherwise,what made radios speak! I figured some sort of specially made people who were chosen to sing,read the news in radio sets and when the radio was quiet,it meant they were tired or fell asleep.
