I use to believe that all the singers and bands went in and out of my local radio station to sing a couple songs every day. My brother was going on a radio station tour one day and I asked him to get me as many autographs as he could. (He laughed, and I learned the truth! I liked my idea better!)

I used to believe that when I watched a tv show, it was actually being played out and filmed under my house. I thought they had a live video feed hooked up just to my house, and only me and my family could watch it. Then I discovered the towers and the tv stations.
I saw a cartoon on Sesame Street once where a kid didn't like his mommy, and went to a Mommy Store to trade her in and pick out a new mommy - they were posed throughout the store like fashion mannequins. Since it was Sesame Street, I believed it - and it scared the hell out of me.

When I was little, my mom had a QVC card. Our tv had slits over the speaker that were credit card sized. So, there I'd be, watchin QVC, slidin the card through the speaker slits, expecting my item and bill to arrive in the mail days later... I cried many days.

When I first saw the films Tron and In the Mind's Eye (something like that), I thought the 3d graphics were awesome!

I used to believe that cartoons were little kid actors. And so of course, I wanted to be a cartoon. I thought the costumes were so cool!

Foreign movies and sitcoms on TV are always dubbed in Turkish before they are shown on Turkish channels. I thought that all the actors on tv and in the movies could perfectly speak Turkish and all other languages.
I thought that the "Champion the Wonder Horse" song went in part:
Like a shooting star flashed across the sky,
Like the swiftest arrow risen from a bow,
Like a mighty marrow forth he seems to fly...
I didn't know what large, green vegetable marrows had to do with horses but I was used to grown-ups saying incomprehensible things: I just assumed it meant something to them. (I still don't know what that line really was!)

When I was little I used to think that people on the TV could actually see me!

When I was little I had a tape recorder that I would listen to at night. When it got to the end of a tape, it jammed up sometimes and made a loud chattering sound. I took this to be teeth chattering, and imagined that a skeleton lived under my bed(I had a waterbed, so I don't know how he got underneath, but he did.) Then I got an idea that made me feel better. I knew that cartoons were a lot of drawings played at high speed, so I figured all TV was made this way. The skeleton started living inside the TV and 'changing the papers' so we could all watch the TV set...

On soap operas, they would show a couple kissing, then cut to commercial, then when they returned to the scene, they were in the bed "after," but I always thought that they just took a nap after kissing.
i used to believe that the official start of the weekend was when Miami Vice came on Friday Nights at 10...after that it was "really" the weekend.
i believed that if i didnt do my homework or if i had done something bad that Bill Bixby was going to come to my house and change into the Incredible Hulk and hunt me down...i had nightmares about the Hulk when i went to bed escaping punishment..and after waking up in a cold sweat i would wake up and do my homework or confess to my folks what i did before i could go to sleep again... i still cant watch the TV show, i get nervous watching just about anything with Bill Bixby or Lou Ferrigno in it...and just forget about seeing the Movie for the Hulk coming out next year...
I used to believe that "Little House on the Prairie" was filmed actually in the 1800's - that the cameramen just followed the Ingall's family around taping them. Then they edited out the boring parts and what was left was the hour we got to see on TV.
I used to believe…
One of the first times I saw "The Wizard of Oz" my father informed me that what the Wizard actually gave the Tin Man was a bomb (because it was ticking). And for many years after that I was SURE that every time I saw the movie I just MUST have missed the part where the bomb explodes, or that those scenes were cut from the TV version of the movie.
I used to believe that if I danced well enough when the music shows were on then if I was the best someone would come and give me a prize becuase of course the people on the TV could see you dancing
I used to believe there were little people and whole tiny orchestras inside the speakers of my parents' stereo. How else could the voices and music come from them??

I used to believe that someone, somewhere in the world was watching me on their television.
I used to believe that the "Guest Cast" listings in the T.V. guide that followed each program were the names of the people in the commercials, since they came in between the T.V. listings, just as commercials came in between the T.V. shows.
