I used to believe…
When I was five I was a devout American Bandstand fan although there weren't people of color on the dance floor. For a long time, I believed that in order to be on American Bandstand you had to be "White." All I wanted was to be White so I could be on American Bandstand.

The first time my father took me fishing in a boat, I panicked and cried when he started to put down the anchor. I was certain that dropping that heavy weight overboard was going to pull us down with it. He gave up trying to convince me and we drifted aimlessly with the wind instead. I blame the Roadrunner cartoons.
I used to believe…
My father told me that the people on TV actually worked at the top of the TV towers. I used to worry about them when it was a windy day, thinking they are all going to fall off of the tower.
i thought that the 'cookie monster' really eats those cookies....
i shoulda just realized he wasn't, judging by ALL the cookie mess he made..

I used to think that if the TV was not on channel 13, Sesame Street would go away forever. I would throw a hissy fit anytime the TV was not on channel 13.
I believed that on Romper's Room at the end of the show when the lady used to look through the magic hand held mirror and call names of the children she saw watching the program, that she could actually see the children. She called my sister's name but never called mine. That's because my sister's name is Denise which is a common name but my name is Jeneil. What was the likelihood of her calling my name. Now I know the truth!
I used to believe…
When I was a kid, there was a show called Romper Room. The host of the show, I think Miss Molly, would look through her hand held mirror and say who she saw...meaning she said kid's name she saw through the mirror. I waited and waited..and watched that show all the time...and she NEVER said my name!
Romber Bomper Stomper Doo
Tell me Tell me Tell me Doo
Magic Mirror tell me today
Have all my friends have fun at play
I see....(this is when she would say the kid's names)
I used to believe…
that my uncle was responsible for every cartoon played on TV
I used to believe…
when i was younger, my big sister told me that people on tv could see you like we could see them, so i used to go around trying to see if i could see them trying to look at me,and shows like "save by the bell" where "Zack" would call "timeouts" and talk to the camera helped the theory.

I had to leave the movie theater during Star Wars because I thought the actors were live on stage and Jaba the Hut would eat me.
I used to believe…
When I was little I used to believe that Crystal Light was the tool of the devil. You remember that commericial that went "I believe in Crystal Light"? Well, one day I was watching TV and this commercial came on and I ran to my mom and screamed "Mom, mom, the people on the Crystal Light commericial are going to hell, they don't believe in God, they believe in Crystal Light!"
I used to believe…
When I was little I use to believe that miniature versions of bands (like the Beatles) lived inside of the radio. I use to sit by the radio in the kitchen and stare at it, trying to figure out how they all fit in there.
I used to believe…
Until I was 13, I believed that when a man and woman kissed in the movies or on TV, they weren't REALLY kissing. I have no idea how I thought that they could fake kiss.
I used to believe…
When I was 5 or 6 I would get up really early to watch Monty Python's Flying Circus. I would watch and get very ticked that there were no clowns or elephants doing tricks. (Or was there)
I use to believe (about 30 years ago) that when you turned the television off, the actors would all go and sit down somewhere inside the TV, until you turned it back on. Partly because it seemed like the Brady Bunch or cartoons were always on. Or maybe that's all my parents would allow me to watch.

I used to believe…
Until I was 9, I thought shows that came on the tv were being performed at that very time. Live. So...I also thought all the bands were at the radio station.
I used to believe…
When I was younger I used to think that the enemy ships in Star Wars were called Type Writers (Not Tie Fighters as they actually are).
Also in the Hymn 'Lord of the Dance' i used to think that the line
'I am the lord of the dance said he'
was actually
'I am the Lord of the dance Settee'
which confused me some
I used to beleive that in order to pick up a radio station, you had to have it's bumper sticker on your car. As a DJ now, I'm glad this isn't the case.... because only a small amount of people actually display the stickers on their car! That wouldn;t work well when it comes to ratings time, would it?

I use to think that if I sang the Animanicas theme loud enough Yakko Wakko and Dot (or people in costumes) would come over to my house and eat dinner.
I used to believe…
When I was in the 5th grade, I had an irrational fear that if I was humming a song, and then turned on the radio and that same song was playing, that a nuclear war or some other world-ending event would happen. Whenever I would turn on the radio, I would make sure to first start humming a song that I knew would not be playing (like She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain or something)... Goofy, I know.
