I used to believe that all tv shows were live and that repeats were the actors/actresses doing a very good job.
I used to think that when actors died on telly, they really died. But since I still got the concept of actors, I figured that the people who made the movies just gave the actors everything they wanted for a week, on the condition that they could kill them on film at the end.
When I found out years later that this formed the basis for snuff films, I was outraged that they'd stolen my idea.
I told a younger boy that I didn't like that a video game RF converter switch in a glass jar was, in fact, a bomb which could destroy the entire world if opened. He ran home, and later his father came round to chastise me.

"She sees the light, she sees the light"
what I heard "E.T.'s alive, E.T.'s alive"
I was watching a movie with a friend.. Parent Trap (The newer one) and there were twins in the movie played by the same actress. One twin had nail polish, and the other didn't. When the twins were interacting, the scene kept switching back and forth between the two.
My friend informed me that "You wouldn't believe how many times they removed that girls nail polish and repainted it when they switch back and forth."
I'm not sure if she was trying to trick me or if she really believed this, but she did have a hard time understanding when i tried to explain that they taped all the shots of one twin, and all of the other then edited them together.

In the U.S., televion programs are frequently aired an hour early in the Central time zone, presumably so that they may be simulcast to the east coast and the midwest. I assumed that this practice extended: when a commercial announced a show airing at "8, 7 Central", I assumed that we on the west coast would get it at 5 o'clock.
I used to think that all the radio stations reached the whole world. So naturally there would be only one country station, one rock.. etc.. I got mad when the radio played a recording of a song, and wondered why they didnt just have the band sing it live.. Becuase, duh, all the bands are right there in the radio studio right?
I was shocked to scroll through the radio stations and find another country station...

when i was 6 I used to believe that when i saw movies in my tv, the commercials were to allow actors rest a little before going out to act again. And i was amazed how i could see the same movie many times without the actors making a mistake or getting tired from doing it over an over again

My parents never subscribed to cable, and it took me a while to figure out what it was. First I thought my mother was just mean becuase she whouldn't let me watch cable like my grandmother did. Once I figured out that we didn't get the channels, I thought it was something special that you had to live in the city to get (since I lived in the country and all my friends in town had cable). I had to be six or seven before I figured out you had to pay to get more than a couple of channels.

I had a friend who believed that television companies could see into the future because they would show previews of upcoming shows.
I used to think that the people in the commercials were doing the commercial 'live' each time. I would follow along each time to see if they did anything different.

I believed that TV shows continued on after we watched them. I thought we only got to see an hour of their lives.

At my grandmas house many years ago, when the orginal Twilight Zone was new, there used to be a panic before the show started to change the channel. If they missed it and the show actually started with "Do not adjust the vertical, do not adjust the horizontal..." no one was allowed near the TV until the show had finished.

My girlfriend belived that sitcoms were called that because you sat down to watch them.
I used to believe that the "We All Live in a Capital I" song from Sesame Street was a conceivable situation. I also thought that those big letters and numbers they had as props were something that you were supposed to have around in real life, and didn't understand why I never saw a giant blue B sitting on a brick wall...
I used to believe that the music I heard on the radio was always live, so I didn't understand how bands could travel from one radio station to another in a matter of seconds.
I was sure that all television stopped broadcasting when I turned off our set. I was extremely egotistical, evidently.
I used to believe that the music on the radio stopped when you turned it off. When you turned the radio on again it would be in that same spot of the same song. I never tested this idea (obviously) but merely assumed it to be true.

Used to think that DJ's would just be really quite when the song was playing so that you could not here them.
An if i turned the radio up loud enough i would be able to him him/her breath
