I used to think the wombles song "Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we" referred to their social positioning, as in they weren't posh. Actually I didn't put 2 and 2 together until I moved to London and visited Wimbledon Common.

I used to be totaly amazed that the news was on TV 'EVERY' day! I mean come on, your telling me that there is never a day when nothing happens, never!

I used to believe…

When I watched Playschool and Floella Benjamin was asking everyone to join in singing and making actions that the camera had a large screen that showed pictures of everyone watching and she could see when you weren't joining in.

I used to believe that people on TV had a big bank of monitors which allowed them to see you in your living room. One Saturday morning, I was watching Swap Shop while wearing my pyjamas when Noel Edmonds said to camera "What are you doing still wearing your pyjamas!?"
What more proof did I need? I ran to get dressed because Noel Edmonds told me to.

I once thought that when you turned the TV off, you could turn it back on later and the same program would just continue where you left it.
I was really disappointed when I got home once and the cartoons weren't still there :(

I was utterly convinced the Wombles really existed and whenever we went to Wimbledon Common (which was quite alot) I would try and force my entire family to search for them. I found a number of things but sadly I never found a real Womble.

I also used to believe that if I pushed letters through the vent at the back of the television, they would get to the presenters.

I always used watch Gentle Ben at my Grandma's house. Being small I got confused and thought my Grandma actually *knew* Gentle Ben.

I used to believe there were loads of Wombles, until about a minute ago...

I used to believe that people inside the TV could see in to our lounge. It was a device used by my mother to stop me jacking off to late night films and swimwear programmes.

I think it has impeded my emotional and sexual development!

I used to beleive that whenever Mary, Mungo and Midge got in the lift at the end of each episode, the cable would snap and they would plummet to their deaths. Apparently, I used to cry and shout at the telly every time it came on.

I used to believe…

that Worzel Gummidge was the scariest thing on television... and the daleks of course.

I used to believe…

After I saw Star Wars for the very first time, I thought Luke Skywalker was going to get together with Princess Leia, and was really gutted because I fancied her. I didn't even realise that they were related until three years later, and then I got jealous of Han Solo.

— Nathanmedia : films

I used to believe that the cowboys in westerns that got shot up in gunfights were actors who didn't want to live anymore. So the film makers paid their family so that they could film them being shot.

I used to believe that the people on tv could see into our house when they were on, so I used to hide behind the sofa when I got changed for bed! I was especially freaked out when in later years Noel Edmonds really could see in to people's rooms!
