When the game Descent first came out in 1995 my dad got the shareware version for us (I was 11 at the time) However I had never heard the word descent before so I thought it was called "The Cent" and was some game having to do with money! I was really confused when I looked for "The Cent" and couldn't find it on the hard drive anywhere!

When I was younger, I always noticed that all the commercials on television were always of things we didn't have, whether it be some new toy or an insurance company. After we switched phone companies, we suddenly started getting commercials for our old company and stopped seeing the one we had switched to. It made me think that all companies kept track of what we had purchased so they could concentrate their advertising on those who did not have their product.
I thought for a long time that Star Trek was "Star Track" because I had never heard the word trek before but I thought star track refered to how the show tracks their adventures

when i was young we lived in an apartment that had a hole in the wall above the shower. Someone had hung something there at one point. It terrified me and i thought there was a person behind it who watched me shower. My dad eventually ran a deoderant stick over it to cover. Every once in a while i would add to. There was an odd orange stain there until the day we moved.

At a local clothing store they sold 'Guess' brand clothing, their logo was a big question mark- so, naturally I thought that's where he must go to shop. I kept looking for him there, but sadly he never turned up.

When I was a kid and watched Star Wars for the first time with my dad (I was about 6) I still couldn't read very well so he read the opening text out loud. At one point it mentions the "evil galactic emperor" but for some reason I misheard it as the "evil elastic emperor" and imagined he was like an evil Stretch Armstrong type guy.

I used to believe that when people in TV shows turned on the TV, they could see me. It made perfect sense to my 4 year old self. Since I could see them they had to have seen me.
I used to believe that when someone was killed in a movie, they were killed for real. I assumed they had to film the entire movie except the death scene and then hope that scene went perfectly well. Otherwise they'd have to get someone new to play the person who died and shoot the whole thing all over again. Similarly - if there was a kid who grew up in the movie, they had to wait for that kid to grow up for real.
