I used to believe…

When I was little I believed that old movies were in black and white, because the world used to be black and white.

I used to believe that there were little tiny men in the VCR that moved the wheels around the tapes I watched...This led to many destroyed VCRs while I tried to meet them.

I used to think that if you ate ready brek you would get an orange glow like the people in the adverts. So when i had a bowl of ready brek i was really exicited and i ate it and nothing happened!

When I first watched Jurassic Park I thought that in only a few years we would be able to clone dinosaurs for real and I remember looking through a book about dinosaurs trying to pick which one I wanted for a pet!

I used to believe that every movie was someones favourite. All the way up until Meet the Spartans came out.

When I was little, my parents had really good quality speakers in the back of the car. So whenever we rode with the radio on, I thought the band was playing live in the back of our car, and was always baffled when I turned around and couldn't find them.

I believed the world was black & white before 1950, and that the Wizard of Oz was shot during the transition. When I asked my Dad if that was true, he wasn't listening and responded "Yes". So for years, I believed it.

When I was younger I used to think that the people singing the songs were at the radio station singing them live, so you can just imagine how upset I was that Reba Mcentire was not actually in my small town.

After seeing 'Grease' when I was little, I kept expecting people to break out in song and dance while we were in public - especially when we'd go to the county fair. I even tried starting it a couple times and was confused when no one joined in.

Many years ago, the website "www.www.com" was an informational site about the history of the Internet (it's since been removed). One day, I accidentally typed in "www.com" and hit ENTER. My mom was looking over my shoulder, and when the info page came up, she told me, "Obviously, if you type www.com, you don't know how to use the Internet. That's not a real website, it's the computer trying to teach you what you're doing wrong."

I was 10, she was 40. She totally believed that, and I was internally laughing at her for years.

I used to believe, when I was maybe six or seven, that there were little people playing the music you hear inside stereos or radios living in them. They would start playing the music whenever somebody turned it on and just sit around doing nothing until somebody turned on the device.

I thought that when there was a flashback scene in a movie they would shoot those scenes first when the actor was young and then wait twenty years for them to grow up to finish the rest of the movie.

I used to believe that people who got shot and died on all those 1970's police dramas on TV, actually died for real; that it was all part of the privilege of being on TV.

At one point when I was little, I believed cartoon characters were played by actors (not voiced, actually played by them, by people in costumes) like on sitcoms. My mom quickly set me straight.

A girl in my sorority came to college planning on double majoring in theatre and pre-med, because she thought you needed an actual medical degree to play a doctor on TV, and her dream was to star in a show like Grey's Anatomy someday!
