I used to think when a add for a movie said "in theaters only" it meant it was never coming to video so if i wanted to see it i had to go to the theater. I remember being really sad because i thought i would never be able to see Fivel Goes West

You know how when you press on the outer corners of your eyes, little blue dots appear? I used to think that that meant that I was a Sailor Senshi.

When I was a kid, I thought my dad could control what shows aired on the TV.
One day I was sitting in front of the TV, and told my dad that I wanted to watch some show, so my dad picked up the phone and "called the TV-station" and asked if the could please put on the show I wanted to see. Right after the comercials, my show started, and I considered my dad as a very influental man, until i learned about programlistings.

My favorite and most elaborate childhood belief went like this. I knew that cartoons were draw one frame at a time, like in a flipbook. I had also seen famous paintings like the Mona Lisa. I had noticed that those paintings were more realistic than cartoons, and that the figures did not have a clear definite outlines drawn around them, whereas in cartoons they did. So, my childhood belief was that regular movies too were painted one frame at a time, just like cartoons were, but without the cartoony-looking thick outline around the figures. I couldn't wait to grow up so that I could paint my own movies. I don't remember how old I was when I learned or figured out the truth.

The first time I saw TV I thought that when I turned it on a few hours later I would see the program start at the point at which I had turned the TV off.
i always thought that when i watched a movie, there were people behind my screen that were acting it out at the very moment for me.
I grew up in the 1950's and our first TV was black and white. I knew there a was a disease called TB, and I misheard that as TV. So, as a little guy, I was terrified to sit too close to the TV and get TB. This was doubly hard on me as I was near sighted.

When I got my first clock radio, I believed that, if I changed the time on the clock, then the news for that time would be broadcast on the All-News channel. For example, if the clock said 10 AM and it was really 4 PM, I would hear the 10 AM news.

When I saw the Wizard of Oz for the first time, I asked my dad why Auntie Em was collecting those baby chickens into her apron. He told me that she was going to make chicken nuggets. Made sense to me.

When I was younger, I asked my grandfather where did Harry Caray go during Cubs games.
You see, when Harry did Cubs games, he would split broadcasting duties for TV and Radio, both on WGN stations. He'd leave TV after the 3rd, work 4th-6th on radio, and come back to TV for the 7th, and finish the game out.
My grandfather told me he went across the street to a bar and had some beers with his friends. I used to think this was the coolest job in the world, go to a game, hang out with friends in the middle, then come back for the exciting part in the end.
I was very disappointed when I came up with the real reason. I think I still am.
i used to believe klingon was spelled kinglion.
I used to belive that all television was live. I used to try and figure out how every commercial was exactly the same. Nobody ever droped a ball or flubbed a line. It was really confusing if I flipped through the channels quickly and saw the same commercial on two different stations at the same time. I spent days trying to figure that out.
I used to believe…
When I was about 4 or 5, I used to believe that everything on tv was performed live by miniature people! They had a life of their own though and would commute through the cooling stripes at the back of the tv, somehow completely undetected by us.
I used to be believe that songs on the radio where actually played live by the 'real' band or group. I always wondered how that got so many bands to be in one place to do that.

I used to beleive that a "Soap Opera" was actually "Soap Oprah," and that it was like watching Oprah, but with more soap.
I used to think that if an episode was shown on the tv that the actors were actually acting it out again. Then I saw this episode of Father Ted and I knew the actor who plays Father Ted (his name escapes me) was dead. I asked my sister how they could get another actor that looked, and sounded, exactly like the previous one.

When I was younger, I always believed that everything on TV was live. So one day I wanted to show off a little how observant I was, and casually told my brother, "That kid sure is lucky to be able to drink chocolate milk every day." And he said, "No..." to which I replied, quite sheepishly and quickly, "Oh, um, yeah." Even though I didn't totally understand.

when i was little (about 6) i thought that ad breaks were so the writers of the show had time to think up what came next.
i asked mum and she said it was true
I thought Chuck Norris looked almost exactly like Mr. T until I saw Walker, Texas Ranger, wich i heard he was in. Then I asked my dad why he wasn't in any of the episodes and he said THAT is him.
i used to believe that all the people on t.v. lived in the plug. when the t.v. was off, they all congragated in the plug, and when we turned the t.v. on, all the little people would run through the inside of the cord, into the t.v. and act out any show we wanted to watch. i would feel sorry for them when my daddy would change the channel so much as they would have to change their clothes so often!
