When I was little, whenever I watched The Little Mermaid I thought that if you broke the glass screen, that water & all the fish would come pouring out, but I never tried it because I didn't want to get in trouble for getting the furniture wet.

Before I could read (around the age of 4) I thought that when a movie ended there was a roll inside of tv that displayed the same credits over and over - as they rolled up the screen they appeared at the bottom again.

When I was little, I used to watch a lot of PBS, and before every program, it would tell you who sponsored it. All the shows seemed to be sponsored by a company called Viewers Like You. I couldn't figure out what they were supposed to do, but I figured they must be very rich if they could pay for so many TV shows! I think I was about 14 when it finally hit me...
I used to believe that people lined up outside of radio stations to play their music. One day I heard Elvis on the raido and my mom told me how said it was that he died, I said "he must have just died like 10 minutes ago because he was just at the radio station playing his music"

When I was about 10,I started believeing that the cards in Spider Solitare(the one on the computer)had feelings.I wanted toi be 'fair' to them,so I made sure the cards that appeared first got put in the deck first, and that all cards where acknowledged so that none of them felt left out.I even started apologizing to them if I made a bad choice.I even said 'Goodbye!Enjoy the fireworks!'if I won the game.

When I was little my older sisters used to go to the 'pictures' on a Friday or Saturday night. I didn't realise that 'pictures' meant the cinema and I used to envisage my sisters and their friends walking around a museum or art gallery type of set up just looking at pictures. I once asked them to let me know if they saw a picture of Knight Rider, they thought I was very weird.

When I was about 10, for whatever reason, my mum believed that I thought weather forecasters presented the weather on TV from a spaceship that looked down on earth. So, she told me that the earth behind the weather presenter wasn't actually that big. But, unknown to her, I knew they were in a studio with a computer screen behind them. So from then on I believed that the map behind the weather presenters wasn't actually there - it was a tiny screen that was magnified just for us and the weather presenter couldn't actually see the magnified version. They just had to guess where to point to on the map.

When I was three or four I used to think that TV stations showed Dracula movies all night long, until Captain Kangaroo came on. That's why my parents sometimes caught me watching test patterns in the wee small hours of the morning (it was the early 70s) -- I wanted to see Dracula.
I used to believe that Bert from sesame street was supposed to be a talking banana, and wondered what talking food Ernie was supposed to be. After a while I decided he must be a hamburger...

My sisters taught me what to do during an EBS test on TV and radio? (for those outside the U.S. - EBS is Emergency Broadcast System, the way the government alerts people to emergencies like earthquakes, tornadoes, war, etc) They said I was supposed to get under the coffee table in the living room whenever I heard the EBS tone - and I did it for years. Many years later, I ended up being a radio announcer and actually ran those EBS tests. I still laugh to myself whenever I hear one of the tests.

When I was little I thought that videotapes worked by sending a signal to the actors who would then quick get ready and perform the movie for you. If you pressed pause, they would stand totally still, and if you pressed rewind they would do it all backward.

I used to believe that the people who dressed up in animal costumes on TV shows were real animals, just life sized versions from a magical land.
I had just learned how to read, and whenever the family would be watching t.v and the screen would say please stand by I would get up and stand next to the t.v thinking I was helping with the technical difficulties. My parents never told me any different.
