There was an advert for some medicated capsule for sore throats or something which had the slogan "Suck 'em and see!". For years I thought the voiceover was saying 'Cychoman C', which I believed to be an important mineral or something like Vitamin C. Oh how my sister laughed at me.

When I was little, there was an advert on the telly for Chambourcy chocolate mousse, that had the slogan "Sh! Don't tell the children!" to suggest that it was so yummy that they'd eat it all before you got a chance to have any.
My sister thought that adverts were subject to the watershed like TV programmes, and believed that the Chambourcy advert had slipped through mistakenly when it was aired before 8pm!

We had a really old, small tv when I was a kid. I used to believe that the little black and white world that we watched was really a little black and white world, there for our entertainment, separate from our own. I'd wonder about all that stuff packed into the little tv, in amazement.
I once burnt my finger by poking it into the bottom of our old valve radio. I was trying to get at the little people who lived in there.

My sister was told by my father that if she pressed the off button on the TV when he was watching it, the TV would catch fire!!!
i Used to believe that all adult shows [even adult cartoons] were NOT supposed to be funny. They were supposed to be very serious. I knew that The Simpsons was an adult show, because my mom never let me watch it before. So then one day, she did. It was the first show i had seen that didn't have a laughtrack. i Also didn't understand any of the jokes so i thought it was very serious.
Also, i thought Beavis and Butthead were real, serious names. I had never seen the show, so i thought it was like Regis and Kelly or something! [which i also had never seen]
I used to believe that people on TV used to have some surgery done to them so they didn't need to pee. Because you know no one EVER goes to the bathroom.
Then I asked my mother and she said they went during the breaks (during taping.) I assumed that meant during the commericals, so I used to watch the sides of the tv very carefully when the TV show came on just in case someone took a little longer...
Ah, how television destroys your mind.
I used to believe that cartoons lived inside the TV and you could tell them what to do by shouting into the back of the set, whenever popeye was in trouble i used to go mental for him to eat his spinach.

My father believed that there was only one person playing Michelle Tanner. There was no way in getting him to believe otherwise ... he actually believed the name of the actor playing Michelle Tanner was "May Kate Ashley Olsen" ... what ever order their names appeared in on screen ... I think he finially was convinced it was twins playing the role once people began to see both of them ... but I don't know ... I still think he believes it was just one person ... and I don't want to get in an arguement over it - again ...

On "Entertainment Tonight", they had a promo about "Zoolander" ... andthe way they did the promo, I thought that Derek Zoolander was an actual male model ... who looked remarkably like Ben Stiller ...

When my cousins were younger (they are now in their 30s), they believed that their parents removed all the dead cowboys and indians from the back of the television when they went to bed.
I used to think the Show "Law and Order" was a show about someone called Laura Norder! I used to think that Law and Order SVU was "Laura Norder - She's very ugly" When my mum had some friends over she said to me. "Time to go to bed now, we're watching Law and Order". "Are you watching the ugly one?" I asked. They all laughed and I was asked to explain myself. To this day whenever we watch Law and Order, Someone always asks if we are watching the ugly one.

I thought that when the lights went out, putting a candle behind the tv would make it work :)
I used to believe that I was in a movie that was beeing filmed, and that one day it would come out in theaters. And I was not just an actor, but a writer and director of that movie too. When a red car passed me on my way to school, it passed me because I wrote that in the movie of my life a red car passes me on my way to school. I thought that all movies I saw on tv or in theaters were somebodys life and were made like this - with an invisible crew. :)
