I used to believe…
Airwolf: I believed there really was a guy with a dog that looked up women's skirts flying a top-secret combat copter at mach-1 to protect us from the badguys.
The Dukes of Hazzard: I believed that an orange '69 Dodge Charger with a Rebel flag and "01" on the doors could fly and that cop cars were built to fall apart easily. I also believed that a scroungy mechanic could fix anything.
The A-Team: I believed that a little insanity could actually bend the rules of reality and make imaginary friend real (hey, it worked for Murdock!).
Knight Rider: That computers could fit inside cars and make them drive themselves, that black cars can fly, and that black paint can make anything bulletproof.
You Can't Do That On Television: I believed that it wasn't uncommon for parents to put their kids back in diapers (this was a fear exploited by my parents to ensure that I behaved, so's I wouldn't be made to wear diapers again).

my sister told me once that people on tv could see you. over here in the UK we used to have a kids segment on the BBC called "cbbc, in the broom cupboard" (something like that) once the presenter at the time, Andy Peters, told the viewers to stop sucking their thumbs and pay attention, my sister happend to be sucking her thumb at the time and scared her whitless... this example of the power of tv stuck with me through my childhood, i was always on my best behaviour whilst watching!

My brother always used to believe TV was live. One time he was watching a show with some actor. He decided he was bored of it so he changed to a different channel, and saw the same actor.
He got really freaked. As I passed his room in the next few days, I heard him murmuring things about running really quickly and changing clothes at the speed of light.

When I was little I used to believe that singers of all the songs I heard on the radio were singing "live". Finally, I asked my mom how all of those people fit into the radio station all day long and what their methods might be as to "who goes first".
I used to think when people died or got shot on t.v., that they really got hurt or died in real life. I used to think, "i wonder how he felt about having to get shot. Did he really want to die?"
I used to believe that Fred Flinstone's next door neighbor was named "Bonnie" (which is how it is pronounced in the show) and this seemed to me like a perfectly masculine name. I never associated it with the female name "Bonnie" which sounded perfectly feminine. It never occured to me until I was a teenager that the guy's name was actually "Barney" and that "Bonnie" would come acrosss as an odd name for a man.

In an advert from years ago about a chocolate egg with a model of a football player inside the lyrics that went with it were:
football crazy chocolate mad
My version went: Little crazy chocolate men.
HAHA!

You'll see where this is going, but I can't help myself.
When I was 7 or 8 I REALLY wanted some Transformers underwear. I kept telling my mom how I HAD TO have some. The reason for this is because I saw commercials where, as kids put on the Optimus Prime underwear they turned into the big robot/semi truck themselves.
When I finally got them I was devasted. I tried pulling them several times, but to no avail. I screamed for my mom and had to have her break the horribly disappointing news.
I used to believe…
as a child, i assumed that everyone was on tv at all times and changing the channel just allowed you access to different families. well, one night i was watching a lifetime movie with my mom and in the end the main character died. but after the movie was over, the actress came on to do a little public service announcement about battered wives and i started screaming and crying terrified of the "ghost" on the screen!!

I believed advert-breaks were toilet-breaks for the actors on-screen...I believed it for a long time without question!!
I'm pretty sure everyone has thought this at least one time in their lives, but I used to believe the artists were actually playing (live) on the radio, not the CD.
I used to believe…
After my dad explained to me that the searchlight beams I'd occasionally see at night were like commercials - "adverts" to some of you, and meant to attract attention to an event or a business - I imagined that every time I saw one, it meant that a commercial was about to appear on a TV set somewhere.

HI when i as young when i looked at the billboards in India, it use to be plain and a contact number at the center and i did not know, what the number meant there and thought it was the contact number of god and use to always note all the numbers and use to ring them up and ask them wether he was a God

When I was 8 years old I watched the movie-Children of the Corn-I was so scared after watching that movie, that i slept with the bible for about a month and started going to church. I did not want to be one of the children of the corn. For a long time also wished that I lived in a state that wasnt so close to Iowa. Thats were the Children of the corn were from.
I used to believe…
when my sister was little she would never go in the bottom part of the movie theater like right in front of the screen because she thought there were alligators down there

I didn't know about dubbing until I saw Titanic when I was like 11. I always thought the actors spoke so many languages!
