When I was little, after seeing "The Wizard of Oz," my dad told me that Judy Garland had actually died in real life, in a tornado in Kansas. What a coincidence! Either he was messing with me or he didn't want to tell me the sad truth. Either way, I told friends for years about this amazing coincidence, and didn't find out the truth until I was well into my late teens. I asked my dad about it and he doesn't remember telling me this, but he thinks it's pretty funny.

Back in the day of only 3 channels and black & white TVs, I would watch Gomer Pyle. Everyday the announcer would come on and say, Gomer Pyle in living color is next on most of these CBS stations. They lied to me, my B&W TV never showed Gomer in living color

When I was around ten, I had a huge (and I mean HUGE) batman poster in my bedroom. I knew that when I walked from one side of my bedroom to the other, his eyes would follow me. I remember standing in front of the poster moving quickly from one side to another, jumping up and down, crouching to see if his eyes were following me. And sure enough (at least in my head) he was.
I had to eventually take down the poster because at night, I could see him look at me. At first I thought, "good, hes watching out for me" but afterwhile, the more I looked, the more mean he got.
Still have the poster too, all wrapped up and hidden in my closet some 14 years later =)

Until I was about 5 years old I couldn't figure out how it could be nighttime on TV when it was actually daytime outside, and the other way around.
I lived in Peru, South America, until I was 4 years old. Until that time I watched North American TV shows dubbed into Spanish. I always thought it was so strange that the people on TV could talk one way and move their lips a different way. I tried doing it...never could.

When I was little, I used to believe that Mr. Rogers was actually a monster and he would eat you if you weren't his neighbor. I always got freaked out because I didn't know where he lived.

When there was a problem with a TV station, the announcer would as everyone to please stand by... my brother and I would promptly get up and stand by the television set.
I used to believe that the shopping network couldn't possibly be the same thing 24/7. So I would stay up till "late" at night to see if it would ever change into something else.

When I was little, my older brother had the wise idea of scaring me by threatening to turn me off with the remote control and I was so dumb to believe him. So everytime he wanted to have some fun, he'd just point the remote at me and say "I'm going to turn you off", and I'll go off running and creaming because I didn't wanted him to turn me off.

When I was little, every time I stepped over a storm drain or grate I would say, "Hello, Ninja Turtles!" I knew they down there watching out for me and protecting me from bad guys.
I used to think that the music played on the radio was played by the bands themselves, live, in the studio all the time. This happens regularly now, but back THEN it didn't. I thought the all came in and out really fast and Sonny Melendrez was just totally efficient about the whole thing.

I used to think all the kids on the Cosby Show were Bill Cosby's actual children. My wife set me straight when I was about 35. I'm so dumb sometimes.
I watched many years of TV series M*A*S*H* right up to the very last episode and had never heard of the Korean War. I thought the whole series was about Viet Nam War, because there were Asian people.
This is what happens when you have coaches teach high school history, and they just don't care.

In Mary Poppins, I understood that Dick Van Dyke played both the roles of Mr. Dawes, the old man who ran the bank and Bert, the Chimney Sweeper. However, I thought they filmed the scenes when he was a young chimney sweep, then waiting 60 years to film the scenes where he was the old man. I don't know why it didn't occur to me that they'd put him in makeup to make him look old, or why I didn't take into account that if 60 years had passed, why all of the other characters still appeared not to have aged.

I used to believe that there were little people inside the radio that played all the music, mymum once found me trying to talk to the radio!!!
I always loved listening to the radio, even when I was young. I wanted more than anything to visit the radio station because I used to believe that all the singers/bands were actually there at the radio station, singing and playing. Wouldn't that be awesome if it were true?
