From watching commercials on tv when I was a kid, I thought that charcoal briquettes only were hot if they were white.

When I was about 8 years old, dad thought that I was old enough to get the grill going. After a couple minutes I noticed that one of the briquettes got loose - thought it would be cool - picked it up to move it - got one hell of a burn blister on my thumb.

I learned at a young age not to believe everything you see on tv commercials.

Tv programs, (e.g. Dukes of Hazzard) were another story. :-)

When I was little they used to have this commercial for bathtub cleaner with "scrubbing bubbles" that the commercial showed as little cartoon bubbles with scrub brushes beneath them. The live person in the commercial would spray the stuff into the tub and the scrubbing bubbles would go to work cleaning the tub to sparkling. I pleaded and begged for months to my mom to get the tub cleaner with the scrubbing bubbles. Finally she relented and bought it. I was so upset when she sprayed the tub cleaner into the tub and all that came out was foam.

When I was younger George Foreman was doing the Meineke commercials. Everytime we rode by the one near us, I used to think that he would be in there if I went in, and I wanted to go and meet him.

You know how sometimes adverts are cut short to make them fir into the alloted time spot, but they are sometimes shown in full?
Well when i was little, i thought that the shortened versions where there because the long version actors were sick - so new actors had to come in and do the advert.
Now, the reason the adverts were shorter... becuase the new actors couldnt remember the words...

I used to believe that all TV commercials were live, and that it was their job to sit and do commercial on cue all day. I was so amazed at how precise they did it each time, it was almost as if it were pre-recorded or something???
haha..

When I was young I thought that if you bought a product that was advertised on TV, that they would stop sending the ads, so you wouldn't see them anymore between shows.

My younger brother saw an ad for 'Satin Touch' tampons on TV. Later he enquired to my mom, "Mom? What is Satan Touch?"

I always thought the Sherwin - Williams sign was an alien: the paint can was the head and the globe was its body!

The Cook's Pest Remover commercial would come on TV and sing "cookie, cookie". I thought this was telling my mom that she needed to get cookies and give me one.

I used to believe that when the adverts came on, the actors which played in it would come to the set and act the advert then go home while the film/show played and then would drive back to the studio in the next adverts... I always wondered how they made it in time? Haha...

When I was younger, I always believed that everything on TV was live. So one day I wanted to show off a little how observant I was, and casually told my brother, "That kid sure is lucky to be able to drink chocolate milk every day." And he said, "No..." to which I replied, quite sheepishly and quickly, "Oh, um, yeah." Even though I didn't totally understand.

When I was younger, I used to beleive that every time a commercial came on, it was acted right there, live. So I felt very bad for the actors because they would act the same commercial over and over again every time it came on. I felt especially bad for the ones who acted in the commercials that rerun again and again and again...

I used to think that all commercial were live and so I was quite confused when I saw the same people day after day doing the exact same thing.

I used to think that a sign in a storefront window that advertised "HEARING AIDS" was a support group for people with H.I.V. It never crossed my mind that it might be a place to buy devices to help you hear better.
