top belief!
I loved the Carebears up until i watch one movie. All I remember was the bad guy was using the nightmares of children to steal the world's love or something equally cartoonish. But I remember that in the scary part of the movie everything turned black and white as the villian stole all the love. I got FREAKED! I thought it was really happening because the tv color was gone! I cried until my mom turned the station to show me that only that channel was black and white but it was too late. No more Carebears for me.
I used to think cartoons were painted with pencils..and movies were painted with pilots

i used to believe that tv ratings worked with how many tv were tuned on to that specific show. so when the cancelation of the rosie o'donnell cartoon show came around i turned on all five of our tv sets and called my neighbor to do the same. sadly we didn't save the cartoon, but i did get yelled by mom.
i used to believe you can play a flute n make a rope do tricks like in the cartoons.
when i was small, i used to watch Popeye cartoons alot and i was convinced that eating a can of spinach would give me super-strength. i kept pestering my mom for canned spinach, until she finally gave in. YUCKO! i ate a few bites, went outside and attempted to lift our house off its foundation. no luck. i though maybe i hadn't eaten enough of the spinach, so i went back inside and forced down the entire contents of the can. when i failed to lift the house after that, i knew i'd been tricked. the whole Popeye story was a fake.

I used to believe that spinach made me strong. Popeye was a popular cartoon back then. I ate spinach one night and then ran outside to where our little swingset had fallen over. I picked it up and righted it, and had proof that, yes, spinach works. But I still never ate much of it.
When I was a kid, long before computer animation (I'm 40, it's 2002), I thought that cartoons were people dressed up in costumes. Moving drawings? NO WAY!
when I was little I used to believe that cartoons were actually real, the movie, "Who framed roger rabbit," only confirmed my belief.
top belief!
When I was little I thought people had black outlines just like cartoon characters. I would watch everyone and try to see their "black line" and sometimes I would swear up and down I actually saw one.
I used to think that, while cartoon characters were fictional, they were actors in costumes, and that cartoons were made in the same way live action movies are.

being australian, i could never work out why in all the cartoons and movies the ducks would fly south for the winter. it would only get colder.
I believed that cartoon characters were people dressed in costumes. But I couldent figure out why the color of the costumes were so different from real life.
The first time my father took me fishing in a boat, I panicked and cried when he started to put down the anchor. I was certain that dropping that heavy weight overboard was going to pull us down with it. He gave up trying to convince me and we drifted aimlessly with the wind instead. I blame the Roadrunner cartoons.
that my uncle was responsible for every cartoon played on TV
When Fraggle Rock was a popular cartoon, my parents got a big box with the word "Fragile" on it. Of course, I thought this was a big present for me with Fraggles inside.
top belief!
I used to think that actors and actresses on television programmes where actually realistically drawn cartoon characters.
I used to think that the characters on cartoons are actually puppets. I wouldn't believe my uncle when he told me that they were drawn.
I used to think that if I don't leave the bathroom after brushing my teeth in 2 minutes, I would be locked in there forever. That explains my bad oral hygiene.
I once thought that when you turned the TV off, you could turn it back on later and the same program would just continue where you left it.
I was really disappointed when I got home once and the cartoons weren't still there :(
