My favorite and most elaborate childhood belief went like this. I knew that cartoons were draw one frame at a time, like in a flipbook. I had also seen famous paintings like the Mona Lisa. I had noticed that those paintings were more realistic than cartoons, and that the figures did not have a clear definite outlines drawn around them, whereas in cartoons they did. So, my childhood belief was that regular movies too were painted one frame at a time, just like cartoons were, but without the cartoony-looking thick outline around the figures. I couldn't wait to grow up so that I could paint my own movies. I don't remember how old I was when I learned or figured out the truth.
When i was about 4 or 5 i got the Aladdin movie. I was so happy I watched it all day everyday. My uncle got tired of it and told me if i closed my eyes at the end of the movie, before the ginie jumped out and said "gotch ya" that he wouldn't say it. So for about a year, everytime I watched it I closed my eyes at the end.

I used to believe that cartoons had their own world (I think we all went through that), and that 'assault and battery' was actually 'salt and battery'...lol...like they poured salt on and electricuted someone...lol...
When I was really young, like four or five years old I always wondered how cartoons were made. Then I came up with the notion that they were real people dressed up in funny costumes with intense bright lights on them... my brother said I used to eat paint chips so idk I'm blamin it on that.
When I was little I once was watching Scooby Doo with My Family, On Break It Said To go make Scooby and Shaggy a Sandwich. I really thought that Scooby and Shaggy were going to come wanting a sandwich,so i had my dad make a huge sandwich filling it with things i thought they would like,Boy was i dissapointed and Boy was my dad mad.
I remember thinking that all cartoons where in color even if your TV. was a black and white set. Guess my imagination saw them in color for years
When I was little, and used to watch Pokemon, I really thought they were real. And had so many dreams that I would get Pikachu or Charazard or something... but then my brothers told me that they arefake... I was upset that day....
When you were younger, there was never a "skin-colored" crayon, right? Well, I thought Matt Groening was having the same problem when he created The Simpsons. I contemplated finding one to send to him, but as long as Homer was yellow, someone famous had the same problem I did.
I didn't like being alone :P
I loved the movie Lion King. When the lions would kiss, they licked their heads. (I know it sounds weird) So I figured it was just a form of kissing. I was wrong. I figured it out when I licked my dad on the cheek. You can imagine the rest.
when i was young, i used to watch Popeye. There was one scene where popeye was beaten to a pulp by bruno or bluto or whatever his name was, and was in dire need of spinach.
So when there was this voice bubble above popeye saying "SOS", i immediately thought it was "spinach!...oh spinach!"...
it wasnt until many years later till my cousin corrected me.
cartoons could come out of the tv and do what you wanted
When I was a kid I used to think Walt Disney was make-believe--like Santa or the Tooth Fairy. I guess Micky and his gang seemed to good to be true.
When I was about 3 - 3 and a half, I believed that Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Alice from Alice in Wonderland lived in the lady's house down the road. Whenever we visited I never saw them and was CONVINCED, WITHOUT a DOUBT, that she was hiding them behind a closed door that I was never allowed in.
I though the "D" written in "Walt Disney" on some videos was actually a backward "G".
When we were kids, we would ride in the car with my Mom, and one part of an expressway we traveled often went over a rock quarry.
For years, our Mom had us convinced this is where Fred Flintstone worked! We used to look all over that place for the dinosaurs LOL
when i was little i thought the disney princesses where real after watching a video called " belles musical storybook" and it had a real woman who played belle
i once toght that the whole world was a cartoon that was 3-D i tried to put on 3-D glasses backwards to make them 2-D and to see every ons cartoon forms now i know that my mean sister was lying even if she had a picture she was EVIL!
I used to believe that cartoons lived inside the TV and you could tell them what to do by shouting into the back of the set, whenever popeye was in trouble i used to go mental for him to eat his spinach.
I used to believe thanks to Tom and Jerry that if you blow on your thumb hard enough then your hand would turn into a huge fist that would pummel anyone that made you mad. I still find my self blowing on my thumb when im in my room in a bad mood.
