I once thought the story of Alexander the Great cutting the gordian knot was made up for the Phineas and Ferb episode "Knot my Problem"
it seemed that the only people i had crushes on when i was a little girl were cute cartoon superhero boys with superpowers. i'm still dissapointed that i can't get with the red headed boy that saved the day in the care bears movie...
When I was little I used to believe that cartoons were actually people who were dressed up in costumes. I could not figure out how they could fall off cliffs and get hit in the head with frying pans and still be ok.
when i was little i thought the disney princesses where real after watching a video called " belles musical storybook" and it had a real woman who played belle
My favorite and most elaborate childhood belief went like this. I knew that cartoons were draw one frame at a time, like in a flipbook. I had also seen famous paintings like the Mona Lisa. I had noticed that those paintings were more realistic than cartoons, and that the figures did not have a clear definite outlines drawn around them, whereas in cartoons they did. So, my childhood belief was that regular movies too were painted one frame at a time, just like cartoons were, but without the cartoony-looking thick outline around the figures. I couldn't wait to grow up so that I could paint my own movies. I don't remember how old I was when I learned or figured out the truth.
My favorite show was Sailor Moon when I was little, and I began hoping and hoping she was real. I was old enough to pretty much know, cartoon characters weren't real, but I kinda thought maybe she was. So I remember one night, actually several nights in a row, I left out a note saying "Sailor Moon, if you are real, please leave me something like your transformation brooch or your wand." Needless to say it never happened...much to my disappointment.
When I was little, I used to think you could buy anything you saw on a Cartoon. (I.E. Rainbow Monkeys from KND, et cetera.)
When I was 6 years old, I used to think that the cartoons were real life character that had crazy adventures and they were immortals because even if they died, they could be alive in the next episode and I thought how funny could be go there with them
I used to believe all animated movies were real. And people followed the animated characters around with cameras recording them. I used to wonder why they didn't help the animated animals out of the fires and stuff. I also wondered why none of the people recording got injured.
There was an episode of SpongeBob where a teen girl character said "Finally, a cool place for teens to just, you know, hang out!" in a squeaky voice. I found her voice hard to understand and didn't hear the "hang out" part, so I thought she said "a cool place for teens to dispiano", and that unknown word "dispiano" meant party or something.
The first time my father took me fishing in a boat, I panicked and cried when he started to put down the anchor. I was certain that dropping that heavy weight overboard was going to pull us down with it. He gave up trying to convince me and we drifted aimlessly with the wind instead. I blame the Roadrunner cartoons.
i used to believe you can play a flute n make a rope do tricks like in the cartoons.
I believed that if I was in a car accident, I couldn't be harmed because cartoon characters would fly down out of the sky and save me! After all, they weren't confined to time and space were they?
My seven year old brother still thinks to this day that the cartoon "Rocko's Modern Life" is called "Rocko's Brother Died"
i used to belive in cartoons
When i was about 4 or 5 i got the Aladdin movie. I was so happy I watched it all day everyday. My uncle got tired of it and told me if i closed my eyes at the end of the movie, before the ginie jumped out and said "gotch ya" that he wouldn't say it. So for about a year, everytime I watched it I closed my eyes at the end.
when i was about 7...I used to get real mad at Jerry from tom and jerry because tom always got the short end of the stick, so i figured i'd help tom out by prying open the glass tv screen with a butter knife and jumping in to help..... thank god i didn't get zapped!
you know that cartoon show on disney channel called kim possible??? ya well of course every cartoon needs a catchy theme song, and i liked singing all of them... but anyways when it came to the part call me beep me if u wanna reach me... i thought it said call me BEAT me if u wanna reach me... to me since kim possible beat up bad guys and was tough i thought that in order to get her phone number you need to beat her in a battle... this made perfect sense to me... but when i sang the theme in my living room where my mom overheard she insisted it was beep me not beat me.. oh well
I used to think everybody had outlines like cartoons or people in colouring books. I believed that until we played eye spy with my little eye in Kindergatren. I said "I spy with my little eye ... something black." I thought the outlines were black. Every 5 year old in the room thought I was an idiot.
i use to think that when simba from the lion king grew up, he wasn't him and it was his dad that came back to life (since he looked a lot like him). Whenever someone would say, "no thats simba but hes older" i wouls start yelling at them and thinking how stupid they are for not realizing that his dad had come back to life.
