When I was twelve, the only exposure to the word "academy" I had was a place called the Vulcan Science Academy, from Star Trek.
So when my dad said that he and his band were going to play at "the academy", I was taken aback and thought, "So the Vulcan Science Academy is real?!".
As a kid, I thought that the character Kimiko Tohomiko from Xiaolin Showdown's name was Chemical.
For the longest time I thought 90210 was a sitcom
When I was a child I used to believe that movies and series were real.
When I was a kid, there was a show called Romper Room. The host of the show, I think Miss Molly, would look through her hand held mirror and say who she saw...meaning she said kid's name she saw through the mirror. I waited and waited..and watched that show all the time...and she NEVER said my name!
Romber Bomper Stomper Doo
Tell me Tell me Tell me Doo
Magic Mirror tell me today
Have all my friends have fun at play
I see....(this is when she would say the kid's names)
i usd to think that Julia-Louise Dreyfuss (Seinfeld) was married to Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws,etc.).
My sister informed me that Eastenders was filmed in the West end and that it was just called "Eastenders" I argued the point but lost, so I spent a number of years under this apprehension, before ridiculing myself in front of some friends by trying to justify my knowledge.....sister eh!
I thought the women in Prisoner Cell Block H were actresses banged up in prison themselves.
when i was little, whenever we watched stars in your eyes, i used to think they'd send someone through the lights and the smoke, and send the real singer back out, and i used to shout at the tv that they were cheating, i also thought that everything on telly was live!
When I was little, I used to believe that Mr. Rogers was actually a monster and he would eat you if you weren't his neighbor. I always got freaked out because I didn't know where he lived.
when i was 6 i didnt know that tv shows had laugh tracks and live audiences,so i used to think the laughter during a show was actually people at home watching tv .One day i put on golden girls and yelled hi to my grandma into the tv speakers because i knew she would be watching.
I thought "make believe" in Mr. Rogers was "maple leaf".
When I was little, I watched Pokemon obsessively. (I still love Pokemon to this day, though I'm not a fan of the 4kids dub...) Well, at the end of season one, they had a Pokerap, where they would rap the names of the Pokemon... I was so little, I didn't even know what rap meant, and I thought they said "Wrap". I pictured guys going around in a jeep wrapping any pokemon they see in tinfoil!
When i was about 5 my grandparents were big fans of the show "The Young and The Restless" which is a soap opera.
Well, i used to get annoyed because i wanted to watch cartoons and they just had to watch "The Young and The Rest Of Us"
I was scared of watching Muzzy because I thought that Mren, a monster that often appeared in my nightmares, originated from there.
I used to believe that the girls on the TV show HEE HAW stuffed their shirts with big brown bowls, because nobody could have perfectly rounded tan boobs like they had.
When I was little I used to watch Captain Kangaroo and my favorite part was when they had the artist on. They had a TV trick where he would take a paint brush and run it across the paper and it would "paint" a real life scene on the paper. I remember asking my Mom to buy me a paint brush like that and I got really upset when she told me it was only a TV trick. But of course I didn't believe her, I mean why would the good ole' Captain use tricks? ;)
I thought that every TV show was filed live, and I always wondered why they never messed up.
When I was a kid, my mom watched alot of star trek, so naturally, I started watching it with her. Around then, I thought that starfleet academy was a real place and I wanted to grow up to be a starfleet officer
When I was young I belived that my dentist was Elmo. Even though he didn't talk like elmo.
