When I was little, I was a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh-the one where people dressed up as the characters and that British guy narrated. Anways, I never caught on to the fact that Kanga and Roo made Kangaroo until my sophmore year in high school.
By the time I was about seven, it had been explained to me that the programmes I watched on TV were just fun little stories that people pretended were really happening, and not REALLY real. I understood that, after all, my friends and I pretended to do stuff (like flying) that we couldn't really.
However, in my mind there was one exception. It was called LRTV, and I've never heard of it since, but it followed the mishaps of the crew at a TV station that was always on the edge of crisis, and their boss, Crystal Cleare. I truly believed that it was a documentary and that LRTV was a real station, even when they introduced such improbable additions as a pair of living, talking computer viruses on the station's servers.
Why? Because our teachers showed us this programme at school, for reasons I've never been able to work out. And they wouldn't show us it at SCHOOL if it wasn't 100% true, would they?
I used to believe than Duck Donald and Gang was true people.
I used to think the show "Mr. Belvedere" was Mr. Velvet Ear. I couldn't understand why.
I use to believe that the cop's theme song was "if you have aids and u have bad dreams don't look at me when they slap u in the face"
When I was little, I remember watching Scooby-Doo reruns and hearing the laugh track. I thought those were people actually watching the show as I was, and I would always laugh loudly and out of place for the other people to hear.
You know in shows like Seinfeld, You hear people laughing in the background Well, when I was little, I thought that that was a guide that showed you when to laugh. So when the people laughed, I laughed too, even though I had no idea what the joke was. XD
I used to believe that earth was the mean girl off of rugrats dream and if you said something mean about her that you would die. I never said anything mean about rugrats when i was a kid
I used to believe that when an actor was shot or in an accident on a tv show, that they actually died. I was so confused when I'd see them again on another show.
I thought it was a real homage to the love of their work!
I always used watch Gentle Ben at my Grandma's house. Being small I got confused and thought my Grandma actually *knew* Gentle Ben.
This won't mean much to most Americans, but...
A couple of years ago, when Ali G first started appearing on the 11 O'Clock
Show, I used to confuse him with Goldie. I am now (almost) 22.
I used to believe that the only funny 3 Stooges TV reruns could be seen at my house....any time I watched Moe, Larry, and Curly at any other kids house, they had less yuk-yuks and just weren't as good. 35 years later, I would just like to watch them anywhere because my wife won't let me and the kids enjoy them!
We had a nice mailman and one day I wanted to send in a letter to a TV show for a drawing but I did not have a stamp. The mailman took my letter and a nickel and said he would buy the stamp or me. I wathedf the TV show for weeks and weeks and they never called my name as a winner, so I was sure the mailman threw my letter away and stole my nickel.
I use to believe Mark Fowler from eastenders was my dad because he had the same name as my dad and my realy dad didn't live with. I thought he didn't live with me because he was too busy on the fruit and veg stool in walford!
This is OLD school -- I was about 4 or 5. Remember the little window garden that Ernie (from Sesame Street) used to have? In his garden lived a tiny little bug town. He would talk with them and watch them. Well, I was amazed by this, so every garden I saw I would check for the little bug friends like Ernie had. I remember being dissapointed when I wouldn't find them:(
When I was very young, my grandmother used to watch "Unsolved Mysteries" with me, and I wouldn't be able to sleep at night because I thought the criminals were going to climb through my window and kill me.
I used to believe that the host of a kids TV show (on a very long time ago) Hatchy Milatchy could see me though the TV, so I would never watch her show in my underwear.
I always thought the Love Boat sailed to Fantasy Island because it was on right after. Following this line of thinking, I thought Fantasy Island was a real place because I had seen the Love Boat in person!
when i used to watch Lambchop i used to think it was a real sheep well one day my mom brought home the puppets of the Lambchop show and that's when i realised it was only a puppet, i cried so hard that my mother started to make me watch Barney, instead i was afraid of Barney didn't like the sound of when the toy turned into a REAL GIANT BARNE. i screamed so much that my mom had to entertain me constantly with pop up books.
When I was younger my mom babysat kids, and this one kid thought that Cookie Monster from Seseme Street, was called Cookie Monkey. it was funny.
