I used to believe…

My daughter thought Paul McCartney was singing "Hey Dude" instead of "Hey Jude".

When I was a little kid I was convinced that Little Richard and Captain Hook were the same person. They both had the same hair, mustache and clothes. But I could never figure out how Little Richard could play piano so well with a hook for a hand.

I am a very big 80's fan, so when the song "1985" came out by Bowling for Soup I was happy! BUT the part that goes "She was gonna shake her A** on the hood of whitesnake's car..." I totally misheard... I love whitesnake and now know that the real version is much better than "She was gonna shake her a** on the hood of my 6th car..."

I thought "Angel of the Moring", by Juice Newton said "just brush me teeth before you leave me"!!!

I used to believe…

in the greenday song ' watsername' the song goes "thought i ran into u down on the street/then it turned out to only be a dream" i was convinced it said "then it turned out to only be a freak!"
i still think my version sounds better.

i used to think that the song 'cotton eyed joe' was called ' grandpa joe'!
after singing it i front of every1 at my auntys wedding, my sister kindly pointed out the real words. people still laugh at me whenever they hear that song!

I used to think that the Spice Girl's first music video (I forogt what it was called) was actually them going into a random place and messing around. I lated learned it was staged.

When the song "Someday Out of the Blue" by Elton John came out, I loved it. Everytime it was on the radio, I would sing it as enthusiastically as possible. The only thing was that I got the chorus messed up.
The chorus actually goes:

"Someday out of the blue,
In a crowded street, or a deserted square,
I'll turn and I'll see you"

O (oh, so nobly) mis-sang:

"Someday out of the blue,
In a crowded street, or a deserted square,
I'll turn a Nazi in."

I used to think that the lyrics "just a special touch of paradise" were "just a special touch of parrots eyes". The song was sampled on an advert for Malaysia. I used to love that song, and imagined travelling to Malaysia and being able to pet the parrots. I decided I would be kind and not touch their eyes, though, because they probably didn't like that much.

I used to think that Janet Jackson's Escapade was really about the ice capades! You know, those traveling shows where a bunch of people dressed in leotards and wearing really huge, elaborate headresses with brightly colored feathers skate around the ice in various choreographed numbers? I thought she was REALLY into that kind of thing. I kind of thought if I was a big star, I'd have something better to do than go to an ice capade.

I used to think that:

1) 'Louie Louie, oh no' was 'Do I? Do I? Oh no...'

and that:

2) 'On through the dead of night, with the four horsemen ride, or choose your fate and die' was 'On through the dead of night, we're the four horsemen right, so lose your faith and die!'

When I first saw Hanson, I thought they were girls!

When I was little, I went to camp for a week. We sang songs every night, and I remember one in particular... part of the lyrics go, "And my father wants me wed..." (as in married). Well, I always heard- and sang- "And my father wants me dead..." One of the counselors overheard me and thought I had, and I quote, "some kind of problem."

I used to believe…

When I was little, my mom and I would always sing "The Paw Paw Song." It was a little song about picking up the paw paw fruit and putting it in a basket. Trouble was, I called my grandpa "Paw Paw." So for years, I always thought they were picking up grandpas and putting them in baskets.

I used to believe, until I was in my late 30's that on the song "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones that the first line said "Tired of Living is easy to do" and FINALLY learned that it says "Childhood livng is easy to do". OBVIOUSLY the first version makes absolutely no sense. What a dope and how embarrasing this was while I was belting it out at concerts and in the car at the top of my lungs!!!!!!!!!!

i used to think that the song "i would do anything for love" the line in it that said "i would run right into hell and back" i thought it said "i would run right into helen-mac" and i would say "who is helen-mac and why did i run into her"

I heard the song "Camp Grenada" by Allan Sherman (the one that goes "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah, here I am at Camp Grenada"..) long before I ever heard the classic music it's based on: "Dance of the Hours". When I finally saw "Fantasia" I wondered what Hippos and Crocodiles had to do with camping!
