I used to believe…

As a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s, I loved Madonna.

Only, her songs sometimes confused me.

Vogue, for instance was puzzling.

I really couldn't fathom why she was singing about gum disease. ("Gingivitus, dance on air... ") Turns out she was ACTUALLY singing about Ginger Rodgers. ("Ginger Rodgers, dance on air...") Hmmm... Good to know.

Incidentally, "dance on air" could have easily been legionnaire's. I briefly considered re-making the song into a song about different diseases. Thankfully, I didn't have that much spare time.

untill about ayear ago I used to think that Elton Johns song tiny dancer went "hold me close don't tie me down son" when really he was saying "hold me close now tiny dancer". My version didn't make any sense : )

I used to believe…

at 5, I thought the Eagles "Take it to the limit" was "Take it to the lemon"

later, intent on finding a nice italian boyfriend, I thought Madonna's "La Isla Bonita" line "Last night I dreamt of San Pedro" was "Last night I dreamt of some daygo"

I used to sing along with bohemian rhapsody by queen- "spare him his life from his monstrosity" was "spare him his life for his mum's new settee" and "beelezebub has a devil put aside for me" was "the owls that hoot had a neville in a side for me". i was scandalised that a mother would consider her new settee over the life of her son :s

For years I thought the first line of the song 'Word up' was 'bald headed ladies around the world' when it's actually 'Yo, pretty ladies around the world'.

hall of fame

I used to think Billy Idols "Eyes without a face" was "How's about a date" : - )

I didn't know that song 'Skip to the Loo' was about skipping to the restroom. I thought it was about skipping to the beat of a song. For years I called music beats, loo.

I used to believe the Metallica song "Trapped Under Ice" said "I turned down the rice."

I didn't realize 'K-I-S-S-I-N-G-' in 'Robby and Mary- et cetra- sitting in a tree' spelled Kissing until a year ago ^-^ I thought they just put a couple of letters together to make the song longer.

I used to think the Madonna lyrics to La Isla Bonita were 'Young girl with eyes like potatoes' and also the Queen song Breakthru 'Im under your thumb..'
woz first of all 'Im under your book' Then 'Im under your f**k'. Also, Im still not sure of the lyrics to The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony, they sound like 'I am here, in my mong' to me.

When I was little, and Angie from Rolling Stones went on the radio, I always tought he sang: I'm Jack, IIII'm Jack instead of Angie, Angie, and I never really understood why Mick Jagger wanted to prove he was Jack.

There was that song from Shakira, Objection. We made a dance to that music for our prom in Hungary. Once I heard my friend singing: ...'I'm not your mother, but you don't live in bubble' , when the lyrics was ' you don't even bother'. I was laughing on the floor, but she explaned it had a sense: You don't live in bubble means: you are not alone, you have to pay attention to others, don't be selfish..I think it has something in it:)

this is my cousins...
when she was about 3, she used to sing: "ride a croc horse, to BAN BEE cross, fine lady, white horse, fingers and toes, ever ever she goes" instead of: "ride a cock horse, to banbury cross, to seea fine lady upon a white horse. with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes, and she will make music wherever she goes
cracked me up every time

i thought the song 'all star' went:
she was looking kinda dunb
with her finger in her bum
instead of
she was looking kinda dumb
with her finger and her thumb
i used to get so annoyed at my lil sister for singing it!!! i only just found out now that i was wrong lol

i used to think that the lyrics to 'the final countdown' went: 'we're heading to be nice' instead of 'we're heading to venus' if u listen they do say 'venus' a bit weirdly!!! i thought it was such a nice song haha!

there is a song..i don't know by whom. but the chorus is like..." it's a violent pornography. choking chicks and sodomy" my stupid boyfriend thought it was.." it's a violent pornography. drunken chicks inside of me" he is so cute.

I used to believe…

My friend Rylan tired to convince me that the lyrics to Scar Tissue by the Red Hot Chili Peppers were "With the birds I'll shave this lonley pube" when in fact it is " With the birds I'll share this lonely view"

When I was younger we used to sing the Canadian National Anthem at every school assembly. I proudly sang "with glowing hearts we see thee rise, the True North strong and free", congratulating myself on getting all the words right. However, it wasn't until I was a little older that I realized I had at least one line a little bit wrong. The line was, in fact, "We stand on GUARD for thee", and not "We stand on GOD for thee" as I had been singing my whole life. I just figured we must be a pretty great nation if we came above God in the grand scheme of things.

When I was younger I thought that Sid Vicious (who played bass in The Sex Pistols) and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen were the real-life Ken and Barbie who the dolls were modelled on. I believed that together they sang "I'm a Barbie Girl" by pop band Aqua. I was devastated when some one told me that Sid and Nancy were dead and Sid was suspected to have murdered her.

I used to believe…

The song that says something like "Wild thing, you make my heart sing...". My sister convinced me that it said "Wild think, you keep my house clean." I'm not sure whether she believed it or not.
