I used to always get Marylin Manson and Marylin Monroe mixed up.

I always thought up until recently, that the Oak Ridge Boys song, "Elvira" said "Hell Fire-Up". I thought this was somekind of song to make you go to church to keep from hell's flames firing up on you.

When I was little, often the music on my sister's radio would be popular rock music of the time (70's). Several songs happen to be played a lot and they never seemed to enunciate clearly so my child's mind filled in the missing and unclear syllables. One song always sounded like directions to the restroom which as a kid, which I felt was conveying important and useful information. It wasn't until I was in college that I found out the song line was "There's a bad moon on the rise" and not "There's a bathroom on the right." Another song sounded as though someone was making spaghetti sauce for a whole lot of people. It wasn't until a few years ago that I found out the true song lyrics were "Guantan amira," about a girl from Guantanamo Bay, not "I need a one ton tomata". Hey, to a kid, how do you make spaghetti sauce for a thousand people, right? You need a really big tomatoe!

I used to think Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson were married. I never could figure out why they looked so much alike.

I used to think the song by Neil Young, Ohio went like this:
Twin soldiers and fixin's comin
We're finally on a phone
This summer I hear the drumming
Forgetting Ohio

These are the real lyrics:
Tin Soldiers and Nixon's coming
We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drumming
Four dead in Ohio

Gimme a break...I was 5 yrs old!

I used to think that the lyrics to the Pink Floyd song "Another Brick in The Wall pt 3" Were
"The Dukes of Hazzard in the classroom" but, much to my dismay I think Roger Waters was singing about the dark sarcasm.

Years ago, I read an article about Stevie Nicks, and in it she briefly touched on past relationships. This was before I really knew who was who in Fleetwood Mac, and when she mentioned her short marriage to Kim Anderson in '83, and her on-again-off-again relationship with Lindsey Buckingham, my first thought was: "All these years, I had NO idea she was a lesbian!"

It wasn't until it dawned on me that Lindsey was the *MALE* guitarist... I guess I always assumed that 'Lindsey' was the gorgeous, classy English woman (Christine McVie).

My step sister used to believe the words to "Home On the Range" were:

"Home, home on the range, when the deer sat on the bench."

For the longest time as a child, my father thought Trooper's "Raise a Little Hell" was actually "Raise a Little Elf", having first heard it around Christmas... It was only when he asked why Christmas songs were being played out of season that he learned the truth.

I also used to think that the song Raspberry Barret by Prince was Round Merry Go Round. I even argued with my aunt about it.

My brother once convinced me that Cher was half robot. We were watching her "Believe" music video on TV. I believed him because of her metallic looking hair and the filters that they ran through the vocals made her look and sound robotic.

my sister convinced me that micheal jackson and janet jackson were the same person, and if they both were going to be on the same show they would run backstage and switch custumes

Ages ago I saw a cinema leaflet that said they had a discount for UB40. It meant what they now call 'Jobseekers' allowance', but I thought it meant the reggae band. I figured the owner of the cinema must have been a fan and thought if he offered a discount he might get to meet them.

I used to believe that in The Killers "Mr. Brightside" that instead of "Open up my eager eyes" he said "Open up my ears and eyes", until one day my sister started cracking up lauging at me and told me what it really was.

I used to beleive that in Macy Gray's song "I Try" the chorus was "I try to say goodbye and I choke, Try to walk away and I stumble, Though I try to hide it, it's clear, I blow bubbles when you are not near" , and it used to sing it that way all the time. Now that I think about it, it sounds absolutely insane, but it sounded right at the time. I took me a few months to figure out that it was "My world crumbles when you are not there".
