I used to believe that when you heard a song on the radio, the only person who knew how to play it was the person who wrote it. It blew my mind when I heard my first cover band at a wedding when I was 10!

I used to believe…
For a long time I thought in Elton John's "Tiny Dancer," when the lyrics go "Count the headlights on the highway," he was singing, "Count the head lice on the highway."
I wondered what could be romantic about that...
I used to think the part of the bowling for soup song "Trucker Hat" that says "I've beem more than I can be" was
"Rocky Mountain Okapi" Until i realized that Okapis don't like in the Rocky Mountains.

When I was growing up I loved to listen to my parents' Pointer Sisters cassette. But the song, "Jump" always threw me, I thought for sure she was saying, "If you want me my kiss is in the night stand" I still had no idea what she was saying until I looked it up a couple weeks ago.

The Aha (Norwegian Pop Group from the 80's with Morten, Pal and some other bloke) song The Living Daylights from the Bond movie of the same has the lyrics, "Come the morning and the headlights fade away" which is a given to be mis-sung as "Come the morning and the headlice fade away". Mmmm nice!

My friend Garet always sang Mr. Brightside really wrong. The lyrics go:Jealousy, throwing saints into the sea... But he thought it was Chelllllsseeeaaa(chelsea)going to the pharmacy...!

This is really embarrassing as I wasn't even a child at the time!
When I was 14 I got a Bryan Adams CD which I really liked. Unfortunately I thought the first line of "Summer of 69" was "I had my first real sex dream" instead of "I got my first real six string." My church youth leader said we could bring CDs to the youth group as long as the songs didn't have anything rude in them and I never took my Bryan Adams CD along because I thought it was rude!
I am now 23 and only found out a couple of months ago what the real words are. My husband is still laughing at me.

Eifel 65 - Blue
I'm Blue (if I was green I would die...)
[I'm blue, da ba dee, da ba di.]
I remember not knowing what "gay" meant and loving Elton John's music.
Since he was only one person, and a band was never mentioned, I always pictured him hopping up and down on a pogo stick, playing a small piano that hung around his neck, drums, trumpets, and whatever else. I guess that gave new meaning to the term "one man band".

A poster who calls himself "BJ" has said here that his little brother used to drive his family nuts by singing the Italian pop hit "Volare" all summer. This song has special significance to me because I also sang it as a kid - probably around the same time. Problem was, I sang it sitting on the rail in front of my grandfather's coffin at his wake. I also am told that all evening long I loudly demanded to know why grandpa was "sleeping in a store."
I used to believe that John Lennon had been poisoned. I knew that he'd been murdered, but I thought someone had injected him with something. I was only 2 or 3 when he died, and I finally realized that I must have heard news reports that he'd been "shot." I guess as a small child, the word "shot" suggested a needle rather than a gun.

When I was about 12/13 and just getting into real music, I had a clock radio with poor reception, through which I had to strain to make out the proper lyrics of The Eurythmics first smash hit. For YEARS (I swear to God) I sang "Sweet Jesus, maiden of the East" (and not "Sweet dreams are made of these")

In Kindergarden for Father's Day, we sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" for some reason, I thought it was about bowling. I thought that until fourth grade when I actually thought about the lyrics.

I used to think the lyrics for the song "You Sexy Thing" "I believe in Miracles" was actually "I believe in milk cows"
I had this poster of Britney Spears I used to believe that everything I did to this poster would happen to her so everyday I made her a different outfit, I talked to her, gave her food, watch tv with her and play with my barbie.....I also used to bring her to school with me 4 show and tell and to make all my friends jealous cuz I was friends with Britney Spears......... boy was I stupid

in the queen song "bohemian rhapsody" when they sing "Scheramouch Scheramouch (yes, i spelled that wrong. it is really hard to type, yet easy to say)will you do the vanago?" i thought they were singing "Scare a moose, scare a moose then do the vampire pogo." yea, i was a messed up little kid, but on the other hand my brother was obsessed with, and stil is, vampires.

I used to think band music came out of the conducters baton! Then I tried it and no music came out so I thought it only worked with audiences!

In the Peter Gabriel song, "Don't give up" I thought that he sang "Donkey Butt" instead of "don't give up" in the song and I never really understood why...

When I heard No Doubt's "Spiderwebs" I thought the verse saying "Leave a message and I'll call you back" was "I think I want to shoot Bob Eubanks."
(Bob Eubanks is an old-school TV game show host)
I used to think Guerilla Radio by Rage Against the Machine said "Lights up, we're on the radio", so when i heard it on the radio at night when i was trying to go to sleep, i would always get up and turn on the light. It got me in trouble because sometimes it kept me up and i fell asleep in class. Also, I told my dad that he was going to get arrested if he didnt turn on the headlights on when it played, the cops would come and arrest him... I was a dumb kid.
