I thought the song "Rock the Casbah" by The Clash was written for my sister because I thought the lyrics in the chorus were "Charlene don't like it." My sister's name is Charlene.

I used to think the Lyrics to Tub Thumping were " kissing the night away, kissing the night today" until a minute ago when I read someone elses belief about the song, and how they though along the smae lines...theline is "pissing the night away!

As a small child, my father always called me "Boog-a-loo" for some unknown reason. He's also been a fan of Nirvana for as long as I can remember.
Whenever he'd sing along to the song "Lithium" in the car he'd sing "I'm so ugly, but that's ok / cause so are you / Boog-a-loo". The correct lyrics are "I'm so ugly, but that's ok / cause so are you / we broke our mirrors"
I'm now a fan of Nirvana, and almost 15 years later, I still sing the wrong lyrics out of habit.
I thought the Franz Ferdinand song went,
"I'm just a cross-eye without you" and I thought wow, that love is so deep, how touching.
Correct lyrics:
"I'm just a crosshair away from you"
I thought the song, "Drop It Like It's Hot" by Snoop Dog said, "Drop it like a saw, drop it like a saw..." as opposed to drop it like it's hot. I was convinced he liked to kill people by dropping flaming saws on them. I'm not sure why.

Up until five minutes ago, while reading your site, and breaking into song, I thought that "Big Ol' Jet Airliner" actually went "Big HOtel Carolina"
I sang the my lyrics, then the proper lyrics, and realized : I'm a doofus!
The stupid part is that I have belted that out on more than one occassion...no wonder everyone was laughing at me.

Being from NC, my parents always listened to country music. There was an old Travis Tritt song that went..." I smell T-R-O-U-B-L-E." My younger sister thought it was " I spilled tea all ove you, Billy."

I know I'm not alone with this one:
No matter how many times I listen to "Help Me Rhonda," by the Beach Boys, I still hear the same strange phrase at the beginning:
"Well since she put me down, there's been owls pukin' in my bed."
I just looked up the lyrics and found out they're actually: "Well since she put me down I’ve been out doin’ in my head."
HUH?! That makes even less sense! I'm going to stick with my version.

tubthumping-a great confusing song
"I get no time, but I get overtime, still everybody beats me down...This is for Johnny-Boy.."
I am so wrong,
"I get knocked down, but I get up again, nobody gonna keep me down....Pissing the night away.."
I thought until TODAY, reading this excellent site, that Toto's "Africa" went "I guess it rains down in Africa" Not "I bless the rains down in Africa"
Thank you!

Okay, this is going to sound weird, but I used to believe that Queen's song "Bohemian Rhapsody" went: "Spare him his life in this monastary" not "Spare him his life from these monstrosities." I only found this out yesterday when I sang my lyrics at the top of my lungs, and I'm 22!
I used to believe…
it's gonna be a bright, bright, bright: bright sunshinin' dayyyyyyyyyyyy!
up until a few months ago i thought that it was:
it's gonna be a bright, bright, bright: bright sunshine in bed.
