Another Beach Boys Kokomo mix-up. I heard the line "That monserrat mystique" as "That monster out to sea" Still can't get it right in my head.

When I was 6 or 7 back in the early 80s, one of my very favourite songs (still is to this day!) was "One Night in Bangkok" by Murray Head. Oddly enough I knew all the words and took pains to pronounce them correctly (everything from "Tirolean spa" to "cerebral fitness")...even though I had no idea what two-thirds of them meant. I had no clue that the song was about chess, but that Bangkok must be an awful place & having to spend a night there would suck because he was always being kicked "above the waistline"...was it some sort of punishment? And if he did something worse, would they kick him BELOW the waistline? Ultimately, I concluded the song was about the horrifying night he spent in Bangkok and I told myself that I was never, ever going there for fear of having the snot kicked out of me.

My mate Wainers' wife Nikki, thought that the Red Dwarf theme said 'It's cold outside, there's no snow in Africa' as opposed to conventional wisdom which suggest it is 'It's cold outside, there's no kind of atmosphere'

I forgot what song it was but on the radio it was rapping, "Gay porn" and I rapped along, "Game court" OOOPS!

When I was a kid there was a song on the radio (I think it was the Beach Boys, I don't remember the name...I do remember that the names of Caribbean islands were listed in the song) that was very popular at the time. There was a part of the song that I could've sworn said "Your butt's a rotten stink." I'd break out in laughter every time! There was another 80s-style song by a female artist that I thought said "I pooped on you" but it actually said "I'm hooked on you." I kept telling my mom that there was a song on the radio that said "I pooped on you." One day I heard it playing and pulled my mom over to the radio. When she heard it she laughed uncontrollably.

I can't remember the song (I think it's called 'Praise You') but the lyrics are:

'I'm gonna praise you like I shoooooooooooooould'

Well...never hearing the D I thought it was:

'I'm gonna praise you like a shoooooooooooe.'

Hey I was little! I only found out the real lyrics when my older friend was sitting next to me on the school bus. I was singing along and she burst out laughing!

My sister just recently realized that the lyric "more than a woman" wasn't 4 letter woman!

My sister used to think the song that went " every time you go away, you take a piece of me with you" said every time you go away you take a piece of meat with you.

Well, after going to a karaokee bar and realizing what the real words were, I feel really stupid. I thought that the part in Def Leopard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me", you know the bottle part...oh I didn't know it was about a bottle. I thought it went: "Think about it, shake it up. Break the past of love, break it up!"

When I was a kid I used to love Kenny Rogers. One song in particular, I think it was "Lucille," had the line "You left me with 4 hungry children and a crop in the field." For years I was sure he was saying, "You left me with 4 HUNDRED children and a crop in the field."

The line from "Daddy's Home" by Shep and the Limelighters says, "..your best friend wrote and told me.." I had to correct of friend who, from the the early 60s til about 1999, thought it was, "...your best friend Rhoda told me.."

Until just today, as a matter of fact (I'm 22) I thought Phil Collins was American...because he didn't have an accent when he sang!!! I found on this site that he's British! :D

There's this song called "Damaged" out there somewhere, and at one point the person sings: There's mending for my soul/ An ending to this fear /Forgiveness
for a man who was stronger" but I thought she said: "There's nothing for my soul, and then until this year, I was gonna miss my man -- he was stronger". (I figured that after "this year" she wouldn't miss him anymore). I didn't get what she meant about his strength though.

I am not much of a new country music fan. I like the old stuff (60's,70's)The song "Paint me to Birmingham" the first time I heard it I thought he was singing "Paint me a bunny hand" Since the laughter of my friends over this we have come up with more.."Paint me a burning ham" for one.

The lyrics to Outkast's song "I'm sorry Miss Jackson"...I was convinced he was saying "It's my British accent". Never mind that the guy has NO trace of a British accent :-)

I once heard the song "Secret" by Madonna and thought that the line "Happiness lies in your own hands" was "A penis lies in your own hands". Let's face it, it was Madonna!

i used to believe the song "you shook me all night long" went you she'll be all night long

My sister, at age 7, used to think the lyrics to the song "Born Free" went like this: Born free, as free as a Win-dow.
