When I was little my family had a record player and I just did not understand how music came from it, so I thought there were many versions of singers like Elton John, Oliva Newton John and other people in the record singing for the big ones in real life.

when Destiny's Child Bug-a-Boo came out I used to hear: mBreak my knees so I can move rather than break my lease so I can move. I always wondered how she'd be able to move with broken knees... really disturbing.

In the song, "passionate kisses" I thought it was 'Ashley and Kristen love me.' It made sence when I was about 5 because I had two friends named Ashley and Kristen.
I used to think that Steve Miller Band song "Joker" went "I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, I'm a midnight talker" - like he stayed up talking through the night like adults do. I didn't learn until college that it was "toker" and not "talker." My husband thinks it's totally hilarious and still makes fun of me.

When my twin brother, my sister and I heard "Whoomp There It Is", we used to think it said "POOP, THERE IT IS!!!" so we'd go around everywhere, and start singing that at the top of our lungs when we heard it, cuz we thought it was the funniest thing in the world

My brother once came home from work having heard a song on the radio, telling me the lyrics were "walks like his pants are too tight", as opposed to "walk like a panther tonight".

When I was a young boy, my mother would sing the song "My bonnie lies over the ocean, my bonnie lies over the sea, bring back my bonnie to me." Well, I had never heard the word "bonnie" before, and when she sang "bonnie", I heard "body". To this day I have the image of a bloody, decapitated head sitting on a pier waiting for its body to come floating back across the ocean.

During Catholic school I was under the impression that everyone in the United States was Catholic. This same time I believed all musicians and 80s glam bands lived in California. I merged the two concepts and would daydream about a west coast church with multiple live performances from all its celebrity parishioners.

There was a popular song when I was little that had the line "Don't it make my brown eyes blue?" The singer had wonderful long hair and pretty blue eyes.
I had brown eyes and wanted bule eyes so bad. I thought the lyrics were "Donuts make my brown eyes blue." She was giving out beauty tips!! I ate lots and lots of donuts, as my waistline could confirm, but I still have brown eyes.

In the song Blinded By the Light, I thought the words were "wrapped up like a douche, another roller in the night". What does that mean?! I'm still not sure exactly what the words are along with a few other verses I can't make out all the words to.

Remember that song by Starship "We Built This City"? My sister and I used to believe that the actual lyrics were "we built this city on ROCKS AND COAL". The true words are "we built this city on ROCK AND ROLL". We still think our version made more sense from a construction perspective...
