I used to believe…

My parents played Chicago songs a lot when I was little. I always thought that in "If You Leave Me Now" the line was, "If you leave me now, you'll take away the biggest part of meat." I thought the song was about some poor guy whose girlfriend was stealing all his food.

I used to think that the song "Helicopter" by Bloc Party was all about cows for some reason. At the beginning, when it said "North to south" i thought it said "Not his cow" like a farmer not wanting his cow to be killed. What really confused me was the chorus which i thought was saying "Are you happy for a moo-cow?" rather than "Are you hoping for a miracle?" also, in a verse i thought it said "Master's tired of milk and shaving"

When I was a kid I thought the song "Planet Claire" by The-B52s was about my mom specifically (her name is Claire) and thought it was really cool they made a song about her (to this day I am not sure who it is really named after if anyone)

In the song "Sowing The Seeds Of Love" by Tears for Fears there is a line "if you're a worried man, shout about it. For a long time I thought it was "If you're a wanted man, shout about it" and thought it was weird because if you were a wanted man I assume you wouldn't want people to know..

this isnt my belief but when my sister was little she was practising a song for her christmas play at home for weeks and kept singing 'we are fluffy shepards' we were all quite confused as to why the shepards were fluffy. it wasnt until we went to watch the play and heard the class sing 'we are scruffy shepards' that we realised she'd been singing the wrong words!

I used to love that song that played before Friends. I used to sing along, too.
"So no one told you life was gonna be this way
Your job's a jojabro
Your love's lost you your way"

To answer any follow up questions, I have absolutely no idea what a jojabro is.

A couple years or so ago when Jesse McCartney was super famous and he came out with the song "How Do You Sleep?"
When he sings the part "it still smells just like you d*** those sweet memories" I thought he was saying man not d***

I used to believe…

In the song "Missing" by Everything But The Girl the chorus is "And I miss you, like the deserts miss the rain" for a long time I thought it was "And I miss you like, like the desert's mystery" I always wondered what the desert's mystery was and why you would miss it..

I thought Micheal Jackson said "Annie do you want cake, Annie do you want cake, do you want cake Annie."

And "Rapper's Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang, I thought he said " I got a color TV, so I can see, some niggas play basketball"

I used to believe…

On the Foo Fighters song "Hero" I couldn't understand what was said until I read the lyrics. Instead of "There goes my hero HE'S ORDINARY." It sonded like "There goes my hero SEARGENT HARRY." Lol!

I used to believe…

Before I found any lyrics site giving the lyrics for Lady Gaga's song "So Happy I Could Die", I thought she was singing "So happy I could die. I'm A Samurai." On finding the real lyrics from a site, I found she is only saying "So happy I could die and it's alright." That is way "lame" compared to what I first thought I heard. Possibly I've never visualized anything else so wildly ludicrous as Lady Gaga posing as a Samurai!

I used to believe Row Row Row Your Boat was 'Row row row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily merrily merrily merrily life is butter dream.' Then I realized I was completely wrong a few year ago.

I used to believe…

Come a, Come a, Come a, to me Leon. You come and go. You come and go.
I believed Boy George sang this for at least twenty years, instead of Chama Chama Chameleon, Red Green and Gold, Red Green and Gold!
Thought it was about a gay relationship not a lizard.

I used to believe…

"Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann goes

Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night

My dad used to think it was:

Blinded by the light,
wrapped up like a douche,
another boner in the night.

Part of the reason I'm so rebellious in ways you can't imagine could be from this Sesame Street song called "It's Hip To Be A Square" that would play a lot back when I watched it. I took it to mean a square was considered a cool person.

I used to believe the song on Home Alone was "The cold wind blows around the street of Denmark..." and the other line "The music plays all night, it's idyl-idlyic" It still sounds a bit like that!

I used to think that the line "just look over your shoulder" from Tarzan was "just a bottle of soda". I guess I was a little obsessed with caffeine...

I used to believe…

When I was little, I heard the last song that's played in Grease and thought John Travolta was saying "I got juice in the blender" instead of "I got chills, they're multiplyin." I have no idea how I thought that.

When I was younger I used to believe the song 'poetry in motion' was actually 'all the tree is ocean'. I really liked that song untill my mother corrected me.

One day I was in the car with my niece and I was flipping through the stations when the song "How Low Can You Go" came on and my niece goes "OH I LOVE THAT SONG! HEL-LO STINKY TOE!" I laughed so hard as she sung along.
