Tears For Fears' "Shout": For many years I heard and sang the chorus as, "Shout, Shout/Let it all out/Beans, Adam, beans/I can do without...

I used to think the line in Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall was "No dogs allowed in the classroom."

I used to think in 'theme from Shaft' the line went

'Whos the cat who wont come out when theres danger all about?'

Not much of a hero really!

I used to believe…

The song: Blinded by the Light

I knew I was mistaken, but every time I listen to the song, I heard:

"Revved up like a douche in the roller of the night"

It is actually:

"Revved on like a two in the runner of the night"

I used to believe…

My dad misunderstood the lyrics for "This Land." He used to think it was:

"From the Redwood Forest to the Ghostly Waters"

Rather than:

"From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream Waters"

He sang about the Ghostly Waters until he was 40. As a kid, he even spent hours looking on maps for the Ghostly Waters.

when i was in elementary school, say, around 4th or 5th grade, there was this bone thugs n harmony song on the radio, called "thuggish ruggish bone". i loved it to death, and everytime it came on, i would sing along. like an idiot, i thought that the girl singing the chorus was saying "it's the plucky ducky song!" when in fact she was singing "it's the thuggish ruggish bone!" at the time, the cartoon "tiny toon adventures" was on and i was a major fan. one of the characters on the show was named plucky duck. i thought they were singing about the duck! :D :D i felt so stupid when i found out the correct name of the song. my mom had to suffer through a lot of my favorite rap songs in the car back then, and she too thought they were singing about plucky duck. we still laugh about it to this day!

In the song Reptilia by the strokes, I thought he said
"I thought I told you, this world is not foyer, the moon is on fire as she's fixing her head"
instead of
"I thought I told you, this world is not for you, the room is on fire as she's fixing her hair

I used to think Kenny Wayne Shepherd and the oldest Hanson boy were the same people. Now I just call him Kenny Wayne Hanson.

My Aunt used to believe that the lyrics that the Bee Gess were singing in "More than a Woman" were, "Bald Headed Woman"

I'm absolutely stunned someone else thought, like I, that London Bridge Is Falling Down was London Britches Falling Down! I sang it that way until i was 18!

I don't know about this one but I until now just realized that the Bee Gees song "You Should Be Dancing" I thought the line was always "What you doing on your back?" :/

i guess the tv show "who's the boss?" was pretty popular at the time, because i always thought the lyrics to elton john's "tiny dancer" referred to tony danza. "hold me closely tony danza", "tony danza in my hand" etc.

My boyfriend's daughter used to sing "we had joy, we had fun, we had Jesus in the bum" when she really should have been singing about "seasons in the sun". We just about died laughing.

I used to believe…

my 23 year old roommate thought that the line "mama...just killed a man" in queen's bohemian rhapsody was actually "mama...just killed a bear".
we made fun of her for days.

I used to believe the Pearl Jam's song "Better Man" lyrics went like this:

She dreams of butter, she dreams of bread,
Can't find the butterman.

It's actually:

She dreams of color, she dreams of red,
Can't find the better man!

I used to believe…

In the early 1960s there were radio and TV ads for Frank Sinatra concerts. I didn't know who Frank Sinatra was. I thought the ads were saying Frank's in opera. I had only a vague idea what opera was, but I had no idea who this Frank was who was in the opera.

I used to believe…

when i was 4 or 5 whitney houston's song "i get so emotional" had just been released. until my mom heard me singing it and filled me in, i thought that the line "its shocking what love can do" was actually "his jacket was white and blue". to add insult to injury, my elementary school colors were white and blue, so i thought maybe she had a crush on a boy in my school.

I used to believe…

On the song "Groovin' on a Sunday Afternoon", I mistook "that would be ecstasy. you and me endlessly" as "you and me and Leslie"- I had sophisticated visions of a man who was finally glad to take a ride in his covertible was his 2 best friends.
