I used to think "The Jean Genie" was infact the GIN Genie. For years I thought that was the connection between gin and spirits.

I used to love the song "Blaze of Glory" by Bon Jovi. When the song was around I though the lyric "I have an old coat for a pillow" was "I have an old goat for a pillow". Now obviously I thought he couldn't use a goat that was alive as it would be standing up and wouldn't make a very comfortable pillow - so I always imagined Bon Jovi lying in the desert sleeping on the ground using a dead goat for a pillow!

I still have problems with understanding lyrics, but as a kid, two songs struck me as very powerfully written, to the point where i wasn't mature enough to grasp their true meaning: one was a Gordon Lightfoot song, which I heard as "Before the green dark forest decided to be real" (was too silent to be real) and the other was a Leonard Cohen song: "First we take man habit .... then we take the men!" (First we take Manhatten, then we take Berlin) I still prefer my early interpretations.

when i was little i thought in queen's "we will rock you" he was saying " waving your bladder all over the place." rather than "wvaing your banner all over the place"

i always sing my favorite song "Row,row, row your boat, gently down the stream..." in the way i've heard it for the first time: "Row,row, row your boat down along the street..."

Until a bit ago, my 15-year-old friend thought that the lyrics to big yellow taxi were "paved paradise and put up a f***ing light" She would always talking loudly at that part in the song when she was in the car with her little brothers because she didn't want them to hear it.
