Ok so, the Travis Tritt song "I smell T-R-O-U-B-L-E" was a source of much confusion for me as a child. In the song he sings the title... and since I hadn't quite learned how to spell and had no concept of letters themselves, I heard "I smell pee all over you and me." ... I always wondered why I got in so much trouble for wetting my pants when grown men did it all the time ... hahaha

I have always liked the Four Seasons, and when I was a little girl, I thought that Frankie Valli was singing, "Big girls small fry." I used to picture girls going to McDonald's.

When I was 10 or so, in the mid-70s, a record company called K-Tel used to put out compilation albums of top-40 hits a couple of times a year. They used to advertise them heavily on TV - they would play little clips of some of the songs and name the singer: "Elton John! Hall & Oates! 10 cc! Helen Reddy!"... They always ended the list by saying "and Many more!"... For the longest time, I thought there was a VERY successful pop singer named "Manny Moore" who somehow ended up with a hit song on EACH K-Tel album released... I finally had to stand corrected when I asked my cousin Lucie if she had any good "Manny Moore" records I could borrow.... Took a while for me to live this down.

There is this bit in Up Where we belong by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warner which goes "standing here together". My friend Heather was singing it in front of a group of people and sang "Stanley's gone forever". When they all stopped and looked at her she said " I know, who the hell is Stanley!"

We used to sing our own version of 'Karma Chameleon' like this ' come on, come on, come on, come on be a comedian' and the line that goes 'I'm a man, without coviction' we would sing 'I'm a man, without conditioner'

Then two others we misheard were 'Bad moon rising' by creedence clearwater revival as 'theres a baboon on the right' instead of 'theres a bad moon on the rise' and 'Brimful of Asha' was sang by us as 'grim poodle basher on the 45'

When Kate Bush first had a hit with the song 'Wuthering Heights' I and my sister then aged 8 & 10 actually thought the chorus went like this,

'Wee wee, its me, I'm a tree, I'm a wombat, so cold at the end of your winter'

And then we heard 'gypsies, tramps & thieves' by Cher, but thought she was singing 'Gipsy Chimpanzees'
