I used to think the snowman in the song, "Winter Wonderland", was "parse and brown". ("In the meadow, we can build a snowman, and pretend that he is Parson Brown.") I didn't know what "parse" meant, nor understand why anyone would want to build a snowman from dirty snow.

Maybe i should have categorized this as a "rude bit", but its a misheard lyric after all.
I remember hearing Lenny Kravitz' "Dig In" for the first time. The chorus goes like this:
Once you dig in
You'll find it coming out the other side
And once you dig in
You'll find you'll have yourself a good time
Im no pervert but i thought he sang "want your d*ck in" (you know the word, but not allowed to write it)... That makes the chorus go like this:
Want your d*ck in
You'll find it coming out the other side
Want your d*ck in
You'll find you'll have yourself a good time
I thought to my self: Lenny Kravitz isn't gay, is he?

Remember good old Scorpions with "Rock you like a hurricane"? I seriously thought the song was about a guy that was causing decay and making people rot, and then comparing himself with a furry crane:
Here i am!
Rot you like a furry crane!
Doesn't make much sense, does it? :)

I used to think that the chorus of "mountain song" by jane's addiction was in a different language

I used to think my great-grandpa Floyd was a member of Pink Floyd. Granted, he was about 90 at the time, but that didn’t stop me!

I used to believe that Marilyn Manson and Marilyn Monroe were the same person.

When I was little, I would occasionally hear my dad talking about Led Zeppelin. For years I believed Led Zeppelin was a person, not a band. Looks like I’m not the only one who believed that!

When i heard the song Heart Of Glass(Blondie) i heard this
Yeah, Riding High, My Mother said you were sh*te
i found out the words were
Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light

What about this one?
In the song by Yes called "Owner of a lonely heart", when they come to the part where they sing:
Owner of a lonely heart!
Owner of a lonely heart!
I used to think they tried to make people steal things from the lonely people on the street by singing:
Only rob the lonely ones!
Only rob the lonely ones!
Imagine that :D
i used to believe the song went like this: "mairzydoats and dozydoats and little lamsedivy a kiddle eat divy too wouldn't you?" couln't figure out what those mairzydoats and dozydoats were or what a 'kiddle' was. It wasn't until I was over 20 years old that I heard the real words: "mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy, a kid'll eat ivy too wouldn't you?" Silly how we hear things as children - frightening too when you think about it!

In Shinehead's "Jamaican In New York", there is a part where they say: I'm an Alien, I'm a legal Alien, I'm a Jamaican In New York, I thought they said I'm a Jamaican Emu Y'all

When I was 9 I thought my dad used to be one of the beatles, because he played their music all the time. Kind of sad when I found out he wasn't; one of my friends told me they live(d) in England, and I lived in Holland.

I used to believe that songs didnt have lyrics, and singers were making just pointless meaningless melodic sounds.
I used to think that Frankee's song F.U.R.B. (F**k you right back) the line 'I had better sex all alone ( ha ha ha ha )' was ' I had better sex on the phone' I used to sing along to that but then i read the lyrics, but i still sing it that way...i have no clue where i got 'on the phone from'
i was somehow under the (mistaken) impression that the chorus of EMF's "Unbelievable" was saying "your ugly balls"

When I was a young kid, me and my brother always thought that adam ant was singing the line in prince charming as 'stop reading Dandy' put on your big ganzie' instead of 'stop being dandy show them you are handsome'
by the way a ganzie is a liverpudlian term for jumper or cardigan.

as kids we used to believe that the song by shakin stevens and bonnie tyler was 'a f***ing good way' instead of a rockin good way.
other songs with misheard lyrics by shaky were
'give me your fart tonight'
a love worth way-ting for'
you dwive me cwazy'
oh goolie'
and finally where he sings 'I saw an eyeball peeping through a smoky cloud behind the green door' we would sing'I saw an A**ehole peeping through a smoky cloud.....no, we were NOT shakin stevens fans
