You know the song 'don't cry for me argentina? well my friend used to think it was about some woman on a constant diet and was singing 'Don't fry for me, Alf and Tina'

and when my daughter was about 8 yrs old, she was listening to Wet, wet wet, singing 'Love is all around' and the opening line 'I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes'she used to sing 'I feel my tingly fingers each time I pick my nose'

When I was a kid my mum was mad about 60's music and especially loved the song 'Bobby's girl' however I used to sing it as 'I wanna be barbie's girl'
quite worrying really if you think about it, no wonder Ken and Barbie split up!

I misheard the lyrics to Tina Turner's song 'I don't wanna fight no more' as 'I don't wanna fart no more'

and I also used to think that Madonna's 'papa don't preach' was called 'poppadom pete' I thought she was on about a fella who owned an Indian takaway.

I used to think that Britany Spears was a robot because someone said her voice was done by computer. Then I saw her on "Extra" and "ET" and even on the news so I knew that I was wrong so i said to my sister "Britany Spears is a real person!" She looked at my like I was from another planet!

I used to believe the lyrics to Simon and Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair" were, as follows: "Are you going to Scarborough Fair?/ Where the Dead live and die . . ." As such, I was irrationally terrified of the song for many years. Always imagining this carnival of the dead, full of skeletons on ferris wheels and such.

I used to believe…

In the song Rudolf the Red Nosed ReindeerI used to believe there were more reindeer than I had been told about. You know, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Olive..
The line went "Olive the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names..." I used to think what a nasty reindeer Olive was and why did Santa keep her???

I used to believe…

In the song, "Deal," by Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead), there's a line that goes, "Since you poured the wine for me, I've tightened up my shoes..." I used to think he said, "Since you told the wife on me..." Actually, I like think what I heard makes more sense...oh well...

I used to believe…

My granparents used to play this Burl Ives tape of children's songs. One of my favorites was "The Donut Song" (watch the donut, not the hole...) I thought Burl was saying "knot" instead of "not". I imagined this little doughnut-person tying knots in a string to cover a hole in the sidewalk.

back in the late 60's, my friend was singing along with Shelley Fabares' record "Johnny Angel", but she was seriously singing the words "Johnny's in jail, and I love him..."! We tried our best to convince her that's not how the song goes!
